Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chelsea Lalgie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chelsea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I believe the most meaningful project I’ve worked on is one I’m currently building—an inclusive community that focuses on getting women, and prioritizing women of color, outside and healing in nature. I’ve led a few group hikes and am focused on building a community centered on the healing power of nature.
This project is incredibly meaningful to me because nature has been a profound source of healing in my own life. I grew up in the countryside in the midwest but have spent the last 13 years in major cities—10 years in NYC and 3 years in LA. After losing what I thought was a dream job in California due to funding cuts, I had to redefine myself beyond my career. Hiking became a way for me to reconnect with myself. I fell in love with it and began exploring all over Southern California, eventually moving near Yosemite for six months to be closer to the mountains.
Hiking has had a transformative effect on me—mentally, physically, and emotionally—and I want to share that experience with others, especially those who might not have access to nature or feel scared to explore on their own. Spending time in nature has proven benefits, from reducing anxiety to improving physical health. My goal is to help others heal through nature while pursuing my own creative career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have a strong background in Event Planning, Management, and Marketing, with a focus on Social Media, Digital Marketing, and PR. I studied Fashion Merchandising and Marketing in NYC and worked in the corporate fashion industry for brands like UNOde50, Stella McCartney, Agnes B, and more. My roles included e-commerce, wholesale, customer service, HR, and PR, but I found myself drawn to marketing, PR, and eventually event planning.
I began my event planning career in hospitality at Estiatorio Milos, then transitioned to more creative events when I moved to LA. I developed an events program for a startup finance app, where I managed everything from concept creation, vendor outreach, and logistical setup to ensuring seamless event execution. Afterward, I worked at an agency in LA producing larger-scale events like wellness retreats. I’ve managed events at a resort near Yosemite to be closer to the mountains. I’ve done a variety of weddings throughout my career, but any kind of wellness, high- end dinners, and other creative events are my specialty. I now also focus on helping brands with their social media, email, and digital marketing strategies, helping them effectively connect with their audience and grow their online presence. It’s fun being able to do everything I like (Marketing, Event Planning, and most importantly finding the time to hike)

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I believe it’s essential to treat everyone with respect and allow the freedom to make mistakes, learn, and grow together as a team. As a manager, being open to feedback and genuinely considering it for implementation is key to fostering a positive work environment. Supporting and believing in your team is crucial—no one wants to work under a boss who constantly complains, creates unnecessary chaos, or makes others feel bad, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
As leaders, we set the example for how to behave, and it’s our responsibility to lead with positive, uplifting and all inclusive energy. I always say, ‘Be the energy you want to receive,’ and that principle applies to leadership as well. Leading with this mindset helps build a sustainable and motivated team.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I always find myself coming back to nature. Nature has been a key factor in building my resilience and shaping me to become fearless. While I love my work and what I do, I don’t define myself by it. Nature has shown me that we are all so much more than just our jobs. Life isn’t about how much overtime you can clock in; it’s about being present, enjoying each moment, and doing what truly makes you happy. When you connect with your inner child, you’ll begin to see life with more light and joy.
