Chelsea , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?

My love of taking pictures started long before I started my business. When I was little about eight or nine years old my momma bought me Kodak disposable cameras to take with us on vacation to the Gulf of Mexico. Once I got the film back and saw all of the pictures, I took it became an instant obsession. I learned from a young age I could freeze memories with a single click of my camera. I have a photo album of all of my first pictures from when I was younger. Well from then on, I always had my cameras with me. My mom spent so much money on getting film developed that I am sure she was relieved when I got a digital camera. Well in 2018 my papaw died. He was one of my biggest fans and helped me through so much in my life and all I had were the pictures of him I had taken throughout my life. When I was missing him, I would open my albums and there he would be and through those images, I was able to relive some of those precious moments. In 2020 My husband bought me a Rebel T7, and I started taking pictures for friends and family one day in 2021 I decided I wanted to do this for everyone. The name Charmed comes from the ability to relive memories in our minds like a movie from seeing one photograph and the happiness it brings. I wanted my company to reflect the magic behind the photograph. The magic behind the moment.

Chelsea , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am Chelsea Lairson. I am a mother, Wife, Photographer and owner of Charmed Photography Company in Noble Oklahoma. I specialize in family, kids, Senior and special life events photography. I decided to start my business after the passing of my grandpa and the realization that I had the ability to help others heal from their grief or make new memories that can be shared for decades to come. Taking pictures with me is an experience. You will laugh, cry and just enjoy being in a carefree environment. I have heard from many clients that taking pictures can be nerve racking because of the pressure to be perfect but with me the perfection is in the movement and the laughs behind the photo. You come in and we talk, and we laugh. If you have small kids, I allow them to be kids and play and I work around them to make it a fun experience. Taking pictures shouldn’t be so hard and I like to think that I make an impression on my clients.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding part of being an artist is seeing the end result from a photoshoot. I love the look on the faces of the clients I work with or when you have someone who is uncomfortable with being in front of the camera say how much fun they had and how much they love the pictures.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I think the biggest way I have built m audience on social media by continuously posting pictures and comments. I think being present and showing people the work before and after has really helped me. I was super shy about posting my work before but honestly it has been so motivational to see what people say about my landscapes and about the in-studio sessions. My favorite sessions are by far the landscapes. I love nature and any chance I get to take pictures of her is my favorite.
