We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chelsea Escamilla a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chelsea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
Creating a space where hairstylists and beauty artists can become six figure earners and more!

Chelsea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was a collage drop out, going to college for business, I left to go to Paul Mitchell Temecula where I went to school full time and worked part time at LA fitness.
I worked at a salon in Murrieta Ca for 5 years and then decided to take a leap of faith and move to San Diego to re-build a clientele.
I worked at 3 different salons until I decided to own a suite for 3 years and that led me to start educating other hairstylists on my blonding techniques and beaded extension methods.
In May 2022 I opened my first storefront salon Milla the salon and launched my own Hair extension company (Milla Extensions) I have 7 stations available for rent or commission and continue to educate my fellow stylists.
Milla is a high end salon that stands for laid back luxury. We provide our clients with an experience that is top notch.
My mission is to serve hairstylists who want to make 6 figures and more. Sharing all that helped me get to where I am, the possibilities are endless and at the end of the day the only thing stopping someone from where they want to be is simply a mindset shift.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Re-building my clientele after 5 years of working
