We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chelsea Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chelsea below.
Alright, Chelsea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I saw an interview with Lauren London recently. She spoke about sitting on the front row of a funeral and how it changes your perception.
I’ve sat on the front row 3 times in the last 14 years. The most recent, two times, in 5 years. One funeral being my bestfriend of over a decade in 2017 and my mother last year in 2021.
To even be standing right now is a testimony, worth a nice shout.
People don’t often think about how truly, life is so short. Not only do I want to honor their memory, but I was placed here to help “bridge the gap in my community” with home ownership.
Along with those things, I have a beautiful, two year old, little boy. He deserves nothing less than the absolute best! My “why” and “mission” is to show and prove that no matter what one has experienced, you can change the trajectory at any time!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Let’s paint the picture, it’s July 2020, and I’m due to give birth any day.
I was not only in isolation during Covid, I was pregnant , and the lockdown started on my birthday. Covid literally knocked out every closing from February until 3 days after I gave birth.
I had $7 dollars in my account when my son was born 7.14.20. I worked up until his birth (literally). I received my epidural at 5:30 pm on 7.14.20 and I had a conference call at 6:30 pm. I had him at 10:15 that night, was discharged Thursday morning, and was at a closing that Friday (a lunatic).
Along with that, my mother was dying. She was literally deteriorating before my eyes. So I’m dealing with being a new mom, busier than I’ve ever been in my career, post “party” that really isn’t a party, breast feeding, all while breast feeding.
From July to November, I closed 8 transactions, then buried my mom February 27, 2021, a month before her 55th birthday and my 34th birthday , 3 days later. You look up resilience in the dictionary, I promise I’ll be right beside it, with my “sold” sign, smiling still.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn outside validation at all cost: I unlearned it at a very young age but truly had to put it into practice, when I became a realtor.
Reason being, after I left my corporate position in 2018, I vowed to myself, to
NEVER conform. Now anyone will tell you, no matter what space I’m in , I’m going to “take up space” as my authentic self. I wanted to change what real restate “looked like”, with a full sleeve of tattoos, and usually dressed as if I’m walking down a runway, I also go by a name that people can not tell if I’m a man or woman, “Lou” I love that for me.
