We were lucky to catch up with Chelsea Black recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chelsea , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up I wasn’t always confident if I was confident at all. I was always the biggest friend I had. I even use to hate to take selfies. Back then they didn’t make nice plus size clothes ,if they did it had some type of animal print or design. Well they did have some plus size outfits that were cute it was just excessively expensive. Growing up there were never any plus size influencers or women that helped you feel good about yourself. I knew when I grew up I wanted to do something for the plus size community. I wanted to help women become confident. I’ve always had love for the lingerie field and what better way to help a woman feel confident. When I created my brand I wanted it to a home for all my plus size ladies . That looks just like me and you what I mean by that is different body types, relatable issues and real bodies. I want my brand to be a home for all plus size ladies.
Chelsea , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always had a passion for lingerie and it’s something that always made me feel sexy and confident. I feel like every woman should feel that way. My brand helps women feel confident daily. We have real plus size model no edited pictures we want ladies to always be able to see themselves in our products.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by using each of my of my social media platforms differently. Before I opened my business I did marketing campaigns for 60-90 days prior to me opening to build buzz around my brand. Then when people found out it was a plus size lingerie line we received alot of followers from that.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
We only sell on our site, because we sell lingerie we get flagged for nudity so we just sell on our website.
