We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chelsea Baptiste. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chelsea below.
Alright, Chelsea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It definitely takes consistency to succeed at whatever. Keeping the vision and working on that highest passion with no intentions. There’s no limit as to what success looks like, you create the mistakes and the experiences so coming from that space and creating something better than what was expected is success to me. Be consistent, keep going and create.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always had a love for dressing up and putting trendy looks together. I was a teen and could not afford the clothing so I began creating pieces from needle and thread. I was unable to get into fashion school because of my inability to draw but I was consistent enough to create a Caribbean based resort wear brand made only for the dope, launched collections, showed in runway shows both locally and regionally, got publications, styled musicians and influencers, creatively directed editorials and music videos. I’m A resort wear designer, fashion stylist and creative director. My brand Vivre by Chelsea makes women feel sexy, exclusive and confident with vibrant, statement pieces to make you stand out every time. I’m most proud of my growth throughout, my brand finally has an identity so being able to create pieces that women trust and want to wear is a beautiful feeling. You can check out my Instagram at Vivre by Chelsea and Vivre Style studio and also my website. Wardrobe styling, concept creation , custom pieces and costume rental is available. Shop my dope resort wear pieces and take the Caribbean with you.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative has to be the moments with clients that enjoy what I’ve curated beyond their expectation. I love hearing ideas to tell a story that not just my client understands but to develop a connection with others also. To create joy for others while sharing what I love is the reward.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media took a lot of patience, consistency and deleting. My goal was to accumulate a specific clientele so posting quality images and videos definitely attracted that. You definitely have to maintain a presence so stories and posting regular weekly helped over the years. My main social media page I use is Instagram where I get mostly all my clients. Tik tok is really great as it attracts the younger audience which is also my market. Collaborations with social media influencers can also do a trick or two. Stay consistent and relevant and get your audience to tune in.
