We recently connected with Cheleen Doe and have shared our conversation below.
Cheleen, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
When is comes to small businesses, risk taking takes a huge part of it. If you have to be willing to take a risk, in order to grow,. I take a risk every time I decide to add or restock a product. One of the huge risk that i’ve taken with my business is adding and creating my purse line. I sell all types of purses and they are not cheap. You don’t know if the customers or audience will like them or how they would react to your products. In my case, I am investing my own money from 9-5 job to fund my business and I never know how its goes. Sometimes its a great investment and other times the item may not sell as well. I took the risk with this product because I believed in it. You have to believe in your product and the prices you set up and stand on it. I’ve learned no matter the outcome, take the risk.

Cheleen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the CEO of Queen Leen’s Boutique. I’ve received my bachelor’s degree in Marketing in May 2019 from Francis Marion University. We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn was procrastination which a lot of people may deal with. I would also hold of things meaning, I wouldnt post or share my products because of fear. I always cared about what other people may say or what they may think. I would post the same content instead. making new content. I would do everything else but sit down and actually focus on my brand and do what I want, One day I was thinking to myself, why not when I know i can do. All I needed was to motivate myself and be confident in my brand. Once I got my confidence back, you couldnt tell me nothing. I have to tell myself everyday to stay consitent and stand strong behind my brand.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business is not easy. It can be very challenging and furstrating at times. I started my business with the $500 college graduating money I received from family friends. At first and still at times, business can be very slow. It took me a really long time to profit from my funding. I was okay with that because I knew it wouldnt happen overnight. Until I get to where I wanna be, I still use my 9-5 to fund and support my business.
