Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chelec Pinkcney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chelec, appreciate you joining us today. Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
Testimony of Transformation: A Marriage Restored
A co-worker of mine shared a powerful story. Her sister was on the verge of leaving her husband—bags packed, heart weary, and ready to walk away from her marriage. She felt exhausted by the ongoing issues and had reached her breaking point.
In a last effort to help, my co-worker handed her a copy of my book, “Back in Balance: How to Love Her the way she needs to be Loved, and How to Respect Him the way He needs to be Respected.” She simply said, “Read this,” and left it at that.
Two weeks later, to everyone’s surprise, her sister and husband were not only still together—they were heading off on a romantic boat cruise. The transformation in their relationship was undeniable.
So moved by the change, my co-worker began sharing her sister’s testimony with others, encouraging them to read the book. Her story became a beacon of hope for those facing similar struggles.⸻

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

**About Me**
Hi, I’m Chelec Pinckney—educator, author, and relationship coach with a heart for healing and unity. As a high school World History and Honors World History teacher, I’ve spent years helping students understand the world and their place in it. But my calling goes beyond the classroom.
I’m deeply passionate about helping couples and individuals understand how they’re wired—how they’re uniquely designed to give and receive love and respect. Too many relationships suffer heartbreak through divorce or separation, often because of unmet needs and misunderstood intentions. I believe that when people truly understand each other, they can bridge the gap and build something lasting.
My book, *Back in Balance: How to love her the way she needs to be loved and how to respect him the way he needs to be respected*, was born from this mission. Now, I’m turning it into a course to help couples rediscover the power of unity through understanding. The Bible says, “If any two of you would touch and agree…”—and husbands and wives already *are* the two. They just need to agree. I’m here to help them do just that.
Whether through teaching, writing, or coaching, my goal is to inspire growth, healing, and purpose—one relationship at a time.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My Journey: Turning Pain into Purpose
I’ve walked through the heartbreak of failed marriages—more than once. Each time, I was left wondering what went wrong, questioning myself, and searching for answers. After the failure of my last marriage, I made a decision that changed everything: I stepped back, took a hard look at my patterns, and enrolled in a Master’s program in Marriage and Family Counseling.
I wasn’t just seeking healing—I was determined to understand what I was missing, what I was doing wrong, and how I could help others avoid the same pain. That season of reflection and study became a turning point. I realized that many couples struggle not because they don’t love each other, but because they don’t understand how they’re wired—how to meet each other’s needs in a way that builds unity instead of division.
I turned my mess into a message. Today, I use my story, my education, and my faith to help couples fight for their marriage. The Bible says, “If any two of you would touch and agree…”—and I believe that husbands and wives already *are* the two. They just need to learn how to agree. I’m here to help them do that.
“Resilience is not about avoiding the fall—it’s about rising every time you do.”

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
What It Takes to Succeed
Training and knowledge are essential—but they’re not enough. I believe that to truly understand how something is meant to function, you must consult the One who created it. That’s why prayer, reading the Word, and seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit are foundational to my work as a marriage and relationship coach.
God knows exactly what each relationship needs and how to restore it. My role is to help couples hear His voice, understand His design, and apply His wisdom. But it’s not passive—clients must be willing to put in the work. Healing, unity, and growth require effort, faith, and a commitment to transformation.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”— Psalm 127:1
