Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Cheakaity , pronounced ” cha-ket-aye” , I am a Singer-songwriter and producer . I was born and raised in the evangelical church and was introduced to music as a toddler . I’ve been a professional producer since graduating high school and realizing that i had a knack for beat making and song composition . I pride myself on being able to give an artist or a song that “spark” , some would call it the x-factor or magic . I’ve been described by my peers as ” one-stop-shop” , meaning i can produce a song, write the lyrics, and perform it if need be.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Personally I get fulfillment from being able to inspire and excite someone the way I was excited and inspired when I was still discovering all of my favorite artist and creatives . I love to see people’s eyes light up when they see me do something on stage , or look into the crowd and see someone crying because something i did moved them emotionally . This keeps me humble and reminds me that my gift is bigger than me . This means even more to me when I get to connect with children who get excited about music and creativity because I see myself in them. In a way I get to be who I needed when I was their age, so I try to give them the attention they seek and answer and answer their questions .

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

I didn’t have a generation before me in my family or immediate surroundings that even attempted to make a career as a creative . I don’t have any clear cut examples of anyone who broke the status quo to follow their dreams let alone as a creative . My number one goal is to prove to myself that being an artist as more than a hobby is legitimate . As a result I want to open the doors for anyone in my family or sphere of influence coming behind me. The curiosity of seeing how far I can go in uncharted territory drives me to keep pushing the boundaries of my own creativity . One of my favorite songs on my ” Grown Man” project is titled ” Keep Growing “. I made it my personal mantra and got it tattooed to remind myself that there is always room to grow as long as there is life .
