We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chaz Mazzota a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chaz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I ever made was in time and energy into myself and my community. As a creative and artist, financial abundance is a bit harder to come by so by committing to learning more and more about producing visual/audio content, marketing and design, I am able to bring that into my community so we all grow together.
I’m a true believer in the idea that we all rise together and when we can work together to create content that captures an artist’s vision without the need to break the bank. We’ve won.
Over the last 10 years I have transitioned from being just a cover musician playing at local bars to a content creator empowering and creating alongside 80+ Artists a year.
There is power in numbers and in community. The more we work together the more we grow!
Chaz, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started off at 16/17 years-old playing cover music at bars around my local town with my highschool friend Kevin. I kept on playing through college and eventually found myself interning at a recording studio in Orlando. Finished my degrees and picked up the Video and Photo side of the industry. Over the years, I have worked with countless artists around the world on projects that range from first timer recorders to CMT Music Videos and even producing on an RIAA Platinum Record.
The key? Say yes to new things! Even when they are a little out of your expertise or comfort range. You can’t jump a gap unless you take a leap first. With experience working amongst so many artists, I have been able to create content strategies that work and visually take viewers into our world.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an Artist and Creative is that I can help bring to life the dreams of the Artists around me and inspire others to go out and build their happiness too.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe that we as a society should focus and support the creatives who are truly invested in their community. The ones that are creating beautiful content but also giving back in ways that their clients can actually benefit.
I also believe that transparency in the society is crucial. There are so many “half-truth” creatives, marketing companies, and “resources” out there who are only in it for the quick pay.
