Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chaz Cunningham-Coggins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chaz, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The word “Legacy” is such an important and necessary part of what your life achieves as a whole. My goal and prayer is that the legacy I leave behind for myself and my future children/family should I be fortunate to have some, is that an impact is made on lives around the world for the better. To leave a positive impact of encouragement, joy, God’s purpose, unity, and effective change that causes a domino effect of bringing people together by using all of the gifts I’ve been blessed with to share with others. Gifts that range from music, DJing, hosting, speaking engagements, writing, connecting people to each other to be successful in their businesses, and more. Legacy is so much more than self, it’s about how you touched people’s lives and what will be your lasting gift from the purpose you were born to achieve.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Chaz Marie Cunningham-Coggins but as an Artist & Dj I go by the name “DJ Lady P”. The name DJ Lady P was given to me by a friend of mine JB Jason when I first began my career, I was originally known as “Miss CC- Lady Poetist”. I was a poet for years and performed at various venues ranging from The Improv, different colleges, and more. I eventually decided to dive into one of my dream jobs since I was a kid, which was becoming a Dj. As a kid I used to watch my brother Carlos Cunningham and my cousin Victor Suarez rap, DJ, produce, and were heavy into many creative lanes. Music is also what helped me unlock my writing abilities. I’ve played different roles in coordinating events, assisting with production, talent wrangling, etc. Currently, I’m still a traveling DJ and have worked with a variety of gifted individuals from celebrities, independent artists, variety of party coordinators, skate events, and more worldwide. As a DJ/Host I strive to provide an experience that is both unforgettable and artistically therapeutic. I’m a firm believer in my motto “Music is the sound of emotion.”, as I feel all things creative bring a form of healing, expression, and restoration.![]()
I’m also one of the DJ’s, Hosts, and Executive Administrators for IMG Radio Network. A syndicated online radio station that provides the hottest in music, shows, and more.
I’ve had experience working in radio, producing and assisting with events, along with discovering talent for different projects.
I’ve also spent time studying and going to school for television and radio broadcasting, business, and currently studying more to enhance my career goals.
There are many things I’m proud of and would like my audience to know about when it comes to all that I do; but, I am most proud of my ability to adapt to different environments and still provide quality service needed in each lane I’m tasked with. I’m always open to constructive criticism as it is what helps us grow and evolve for the better. We’re always students in the realm of life as far as I’m concerned.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn is not to have any expectations or assume anything to be permanent. That lesson came from the realization & experience that in this industry anything can change at any given moment. The pandemic was a big awakening to make sure to have as many options and skill sets to put to use as possible.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly, I built my audience by first getting to know myself and all my abilities; then using those things about myself creatively and honestly to connect with people in a realistic/relatable way. In my opinion there is nothing worse than portraying something that you’re not. People want what’s real and honest. Fantasy can only carry you so far before reality hits.
