Alright, ChayaMalka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

in 2021, i created a series of works rooted in the poetic scripture of king solomon; my ‘song of songs’ project ~

the ‘song of songs’ poem is one of five scrolls in a collection of jewish scriptures / writings; it is the last portion of the jewish bible. as this project, i created one digital watercolor artwork per each of the song of song’s eleven chapters ~

song of songs has always inspired me with its poetic scripture detailing the relateable saga of love. whether i’m reading it as a description of the love between the divine & an individual, or as an erotic poem between lovers, it rouses within me a desire to infuse my daily life with awareness of the divine presence, & it reminds that love is the basis of all things ~

i’m CM (they/them), a whimsical creative being! my energy is focused on relationship with the natural world, self – compassion, various artwork practices, musical / prayerful expression, & community cultivation! 🌞🌈💖🌾

i strive to create space for the divine within my being on a daily basis; meditating or chanting torah (jewish scripture) in front of my altar to the divine is where you will find me in the early mornings 🔥🏞️🌈🌸

my primary artistic mediums include watercolor & acrylic paints; i experience it as a spiritual channeling practice of sorts. my process begins by settling into meditation & dropping down into my body, often chanting / singing in prayer to open myself up to create from the deep wellspring of peace within 🌸🦋🌈🐉🌼🎢🍓🍄🐞💐

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

the most rewarding aspect of being a creative, for me, is the community i am cultivating around my spiritual / musical / artistic practices <3

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

in my youth, i pursued a degree in business marketing!

along the path, i realized that my soul was thirsting for an aspect of meaning in my endeavors that i wasn’t finding in the corporate enviroment; i then pivoted into my spiritual / musical / artistic practices & transformed myself into who i am now ~
