We were lucky to catch up with Chassy Battle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chassy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
While in Esthetician school I made sure every client thar came to the school for a service received the best results ever. I had one client that always requested me to do her facials. Once it was time for me to graduate she asked for my card. When I opened, she booked an appointment and was my very first client.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello!!! I’m Chassy, the owner of Flawless Canvas Beauty & Body Bar.
Yes I am a true Georgia Peach born and raised in Macon, Ga. My first job was Sonic then the Police Department. After graduating highschool , i joined the Army and after 16yrs long hard years, I retired.
Maneuvering through life hasn’t been easy, especially doing it solo with a son. But having him and making sure he was well taken care of was my motivation to keep going. My main goal was to ensure he didn’t struggle like I was forced to. So far he’s been good. One of the most humble kids I know.
After retiring from the military, I decided to enroll into an Esthetics program and it was one of the best decisions ever. During my last few months of school, Flawless Canvas Beauty & Body Bar was born. My intent is to create a business where the clients were happy with their results, their services and the vibe. So far, my intent has been fulfilled. In the beauty industry learning doesn’t stop so I’m always taking more advanced courses to learn the new trends.
I plan to expand my business and hope to take my brand international. I won’t stop and with my faith in God, I will to grind harder until I no longer have to introduce myself.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Consistency….Consistency has been the most effective strategy to grow my clientele. People pay more attention to service providers who are Consistent and always in grind mode. I suck at social media when it comes to business so I had to hire a mentor to help me get better with posting and to post good quality eye catching content. My Mentor Dorneshia Crockett-Ingrams, owner of Alluring Curves, has been an amazing asset to helping me take my business to the next level.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Im really big on family and friends and for some reason i felt that they would be my biggest supporters. Boy was I WRONG!!! In fact they are the least supportive. I have a few that’s always by my side regardless of what I’m doing but for the most part, strangers is the reason my business is thriving.
