Alright, Chaselyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Ive always wanted to be a hairstylist, to be honest my dream has always been to be a boss, owner and entrepreneur so it was already planted in my head. It took me time to really figure out what and how I was gonna make it happen. Also being a entrepreneur isn’t easy you loose a lot before you start gaining and you also start doubting yourself more than you would like. When I starting having my self doubts and had people in my ear telling me a 9-5 was it for me I started believe them and It was a 9-5 for the longest . then it went to 12 hr shift and in that time Money was good but all my coins wasn’t coming to me. I was working for other and it made me a little depressed because I knew what I wanted out of my life and it was so much more. dreaming about it made it worst . Everything changed after I had my baby boy chase and that when stuff started falling into place for me god blessed me when a man that had 3 daughters and was doing what was suppose to be done for his family. He pushed me to be a better me and he help me rebuild what was broken and that is when my Styled By Chase started to grow and re-build. Thanks to my little family I’m whole again and I couldn’t have done it without them.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Chaselyn mason, I’m 32 years young I have 2 boys and 3 girls. I live in houston tx northwest area. I love to cook, dance, sing, do Tik Tok’s , and I’m a hair stylist ( Braider). I have been doing hair since I was 9 I got into it because my aunt and her bestfriend used to do hair and every weekend at there spot was like a vibe and it made me fall in love with braids so they started teaching me and I would practice on my sister and my cousins hair . So you can kinda say it runs in the family . I love when I finish on a client because they confidence is just everything to me and baby they show out when they are feeling themselves and I love it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I can say posting your business and work is very important and also how you post . Trends  are always changing and you want to try to stay updated with trends. I’m still learning as I go and it won’t be easy but who said it would just never stop you will get there don’t let nothing ever discourage you I finally made it to 600 follows on instagram , 397 on tiktok and 87 on YouTube and I’m proud of myself because I never stopped and I won’t I know I have a long way to go but I also know god got me and he want let me fail unless a lesson is being taught so remember that.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

social media has a big impact but market outside of social media helps flyers are a must and also business card. Go out there and hand them out , you have to put in the work to be successful in life remember that. It won’t happen overnight .
