Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chase Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chase, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
There’s been many times in my life where I’ve taken risks and made decisions that frightened me but nothing beats the feeling of betting on yourself, trusting in what God can do and putting in the work only to see the results for yourself. The fear attempted to paralyze me but in the end it empowered me. Here are some of my life changing decisions that led me here.
One of my earliest memories taking one of the biggest risks of my life was probably when I was in the UK. I just turned 17 and I remember coming downstairs one day and I told my parents “I decided I’m gonna be a singer and I want to move to London to pursue my dream” I remember feeling very confident when I said it but my idea was immediately shut down. There was no way my parents would let me leave my home at a young age let alone attempt to chase a delusional dream. No one knew how serious I was so I decided to take matters into my own hands. My uncle and his family lived in London at the time. In my head that was my gateway to move to London where the music is.
One day I found out my uncle and his family needed to get picked up from the airport. They just came back from their holiday you see. That was the opportunity I was waiting for. I asked if I could come along. The night before I packed my bags and put it at the back of the car without my parents noticing. When we picked them up I surprised my uncle with a question “can I stay here with you?”. My parents already knew, from that moment, they knew exactly how serious I was.
I finally got to London, I had no sense of direction but I was excited knowing I did what I wanted to do. Little did I know my life was about to change.
One of the most recent risks I’ve taken was actually this year. I decided to bet on myself and go to Los Angeles to pursue my dream to become a successful artist. I can’t tell you how overwhelming and frightening it was to be away from your home country, your friends & family and everything you know. But let me tell you, the fear only empowered me. It made me stronger that I’ve ever been before. I had no sense of direction when I got here yet only a few months later I was able to attract a manager and a dedicated team who truly believes in me and my vision.
The journey so far has been challenging yet so rewarding. I have never felt the shades of life so deeply in this level before. In fact I am still going through it as of right now. I am grateful for my struggles, thankful for the courage to bet on myself and I’m grateful for my team who believes in me. Taking that one risk has changed my life completely and I hope someone out there can be inspired by that.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been in the music industry for the past few years now. One of why earliest professional experiences was when I got scouted to join a boyband called “IF YOU DARE”. From there I got to work with high end professionals ranging from top tier management team, grammy nominated songwriters and producers. I also manage to get an insight experience being formally signed to Warner Music Asia. All these experiences in the industry have taught me so much and I decided that this will help me shape up my goals for the future ahead.
Right now I am so proud to announce my debut single ‘Mr. Suave’ is out on all platforms. I have officially entered the music game as a solo artist and I am so excited to see what lies ahead for my music career. I think what’ll set me apart would be my artistry. My goal is to incorporate merging both my culture and Pop/RnB into my music. A sound I can call my own that’s fresh to the ears. On top of that, I think what will set me apart is my mindset. I am very serious about making my dreams come true and I’m grateful to have a team dedicated to bring my vision to life.
This is a beginning of something amazing and I am so excited for my future followers and supporters to come ride this incredible journey with me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the process and the progress. I can’t tell you how much I love writing songs, free of judgement and rules. You just write and create whatever you want. I have fallen love with the process. Then there’s progress. When you have fallen in love with the process the result of that movement is progress. The process gives me this high that I can’t quite put into words and the progress gives me such an extreme level of happiness. As an artist both the process and progress is the most rewarding part of being an artist. I’m so drawn to it that I’m almost addicted to it.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
If I knew then what I know now I would have throughly studied and examined the book “The power of your subconscious mind by Joseph Murphey”. I’m currently reading it and let me tell you it’s changing my life and I hope someone who reads this can find this book and thank me later!
