We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Charlotte O’Donnell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Charlotte , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?

I love this question!

I was raised in a very loving and supportive household, where I always felt safe and free to express myself; weather that be acting goofy and silly, proclaiming that I was becoming a vegetarian at the age of 7, or expressing all the things that came along with being an energetically sensitive child. I always felt heard and supported!

My parents were firm and loving. Through their example they taught me love, compassion, devotion, and the importance of family and friends; they taught me to trust myself and to follow my heart; they also taught me to take responsibility for myself and my actions, as well as the value of honesty, integrity, and ethics.

Being that I was an intuitive since a very young child, they listened when I needed to share my insights, gut instincts, and my soul’s whisper. They offered me the freedom to explore my spirituality and pave my own path. The prayed with me, learned with me, debated with me, and most importantly…they ALWAYS supported me, even if our views weren’t in direct alignment.

This solid foundation helped to shape me into the woman, mother, and business owner that I am today. All these beautiful life lessons and values are now deeply infused into my business, infused into how I hold space for clients during their Reiki therapy sessions, and infused into the services and product that I offer to support others along their journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am a Fellow Student of Life, Homeschooling Mama, Lover of Nature, Reiki Master Teacher + Practitioner; trained in Yoga, Meditation, and Sound Healing.

I have been practicing and studying yoga and meditation since the age of 14, bringing with me over 30 years of a dedicated practice, study, and spiritual development. I have found that through my practice, I’m able to gain the knowledge and tools needed to help me to remain in harmony and grounded through the obstacles, opportunities, and lessons that life has to offer (and like most of us…there have been many opportunities for growth thrown my way)!

It was during my personal journey through grief, from the unexpected and sudden loss of my father, that I was guided towards Reiki, or rather that Reiki was divinely guided toward me. I quickly discovered the benefits that Reiki Energy Healing provided; I felt a calling and wanted to deepen my understanding and share the benefits of Reiki with others and went on to complete attunements and training in Usui/Tibetan Ryoho Reiki in 2012.

I have provided my services to women during pregnancy and childbirth, to cancer patients alongside their medical treatments, in hospitals and NICU centers, as well as in Hospice care. I have found that Reiki provides a peaceful, healing, and supportive energy during birth, life-experience, and the transition out of this life. Cultivating a strong connection to crystals and gemstones since a young child, I felt compelled to incorporate the healing properties of crystals into my healing treatment services and product offerings.

I craft tools that support healing, meditation, and spiritual work for personal practice or those offering trainings and workshops. My creations range from Energy-Cleansing Tools, Crystal Elixir Sprays, Aromatherapy Oils, and Crystal Grids to Chakra Educational Tools, Journals, and Birth Affirmation Cards.

What makes my work unique is the deep intention, love, and care that I pour into each piece. Products are not only handcrafted in small batches but are also infused with Reiki energy for added healing support. Each item carries a piece of my journey and is a direct extension of the tools, rituals, and practices that I have gathered, and continue to use, which I hope energetically comes through and resonates with others.

What I am most proud of is that I approach my work with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity, to ensure that all who find their way to me feel comfortable, supported, and safe…clients, students, and customers alike.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

Succeeding in the holistic healing field, specifically Reiki, involves more than just being a skilled practitioner—you also need to cultivate trust, visibility, and alignment with your values and a commitment to continued inner work.

What has been most beneficial to me is honoring the seasons of life as I live them. Allowing fluidity within my business, as well as my personal journey. There are constant fluctuations in life. Learning to fully honor my values, my energy, and to set healthy boundaries are essential in maintaining harmony in home life, my personal practice, and the ability to pour myself into my business. I’ve learned that if my energy is misaligned, I’m not able to show up fully for those I wish to support. Continual inner healing work is key!!

One of the greatest blessings on this journey has been the encouragement from my community! Throughout the years my community has stood by me, supported me, and in return has also held space for me to honor my commitment to continued inner work. I am so grateful to those who continue to walk alongside me and have entrusted me along their journey. I am grateful for those who are just getting to know me and my work, who are open-heartedly showing up for themselves, and who turn to me for guidance as they explore the beauty that lies within inner healing.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

As previously mentioned, it was through the sacred journey of grief that I discovered the power of inner alchemy, resilience, and renewal. Grief cracked me open—and in that space, I began the work of true inner healing and there I discovered Reiki’s gentle healing power.

The synchronicities of life guided me towards my Reiki and energy work. I listened to the call, and I went deep into study and practice. I became certified in the First, Second, ART and Master Degree in Usui/Tibetan Ryoho Reiki. I immersed myself in self-healing work. I moved slowly and intentionally through my healing journey (which as we know never really ends but is ongoing). I began offering Reiki to my family and friends, to also assist them in navigating the grieving process they were going through alongside me.

During this time, I was working a lot with crystals and essential oils as additional tools to support me. I needed something portable that I could bring along with me while I went on with the day to day of life, after experiencing such loss. I created my first Elixir Spray using a large piece of raw Rose Quartz under the Full Moon. I combined the crystal elixir, a blend of essential oils, along with Rose Quartz Chips that I infused with Reiki Energy and words of intent: Love, Light, Healing, Peace. I began bringing my Sprays with me into my office, so I could just make it through the day (since I couldn’t meditate, practice self-Reiki, and journal all day long)! And that is how the first of the Shakti Healing Space product collection came to be.

Gradually, I was better equipped to move about my day, and life after this loss didn’t feel so scary. Through time and inner work, something truly meaningful had taken shape within me. The grief that had once made me feel so lost, heightened my strength and inner alignment, and through that I emerged with a power more beautiful than I ever imagined possible.

However, I began tucking away the parts of me that had blossomed, uncertain if they’d be accepted. Only sharing this side of myself with select few people with whom I trusted. By day I was crunching numbers and living in spreadsheets and by night I was quietly hosting donation based healing circles, seeing one-on-one clients, and selling product by word of mouth and through local Artisan markets.

Eventually I no longer felt comfortable hiding such a meaningful aspect of life. My heart was yearning to be home to raise my family and to have more energy and time to offer my services to others. I surrendered comfort for calling. I took a huge leap of faith, and with the support of my husband, I left my corporate job of over 15 years, and trusted that I was being guided in the right direction. I let go of stability and a steady income to follow my heart and to allow myself to slowly build my practice.

There were significant life adjustments and sacrifices that had to be made. Trust and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable strengthened me. Through it all, I found greater resilience and a renewed sense of trust. Out of that transformation, the mantra that fuels my work was born; Harmonize Your Energy ~ Illuminate Your Path.

My understanding that life is better lived when guided by my heart and intuition; I am grateful to be able to merge all the elements that I have gathered along my journey to provide a space promoting health, well-being, and spiritual growth to others.
