We recently connected with Charlotte Filbert and have shared our conversation below.
Charlotte, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful you have to show up when you don’t want to show up you have to show up when you do want to show up you need to strive to be polite and kind and fair and your work needs to be good. It needs to be authentic it needs to be, everything that you think it should be if you know that you put everything you have into it even if other people don’t like it it’s a success. To be successful you have to have courage to fail. You have to put yourself out there. You have to be willing to be not liked to be laughed at to be judged you have to develop thick skin and keep moving. You have to have a passion for what you do that exceeds all limitations. You also have to keep yourself healthy so that you and your body can create what comes from your mind, and your heart and nature and the world to be successful. You also have to have friends or mentors that are successful or talented that support you on your journey. If these people don’t want anything from you and lift you up no matter what because they believe in you this helps a lot. To know that there are others out there creating alone, but side-by-side in support in loving support is paramount for me..

Charlotte, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Charlotte Filbert. I’ve been painting since I was five years old. It was always my favorite thing to do. I knew I wanted to be a painter I knew I needed to create. I knew I loved it. I knew I had something to say. I got into the industry, I began at the College of Santa Fe New Mexico alongside other brilliant, brilliantly, talented young creatives. the Desert landscapes of Santa Fe, New Mexico inspired my color palette my soul and moved me forward as an artist. I showed on Canyon Road in New Mexico at a young age graduated and showed in Greenwich Connecticut and then was accepted into New York’s prestigious Opera gallery at 27 in New York downtown Soho, from there, I began doing art fairs, art, Basel Miami Switzerland Southampton in the Hamptons showing in LA Miami, Newport, Rhode Island, Key Largo, Florida, Aspen, Colorado, Charleston South Carolina Paris London I’ve been fortunate to make art and sell art. I put my life blood into it and I did it even when paintings weren’t selling because I love it so much along the way I had people that helped people that were inspirations in my life that told me that I was good and to keep going and to never give up. People that Encouraged me to keep going other artist support is a really nice thing to have as a creative human. Also, Music plays a huge role in everything I do and nature. I also have always cared about animals and a lot of my work stems from advocating for animal rights.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by being consistent. Consistent in my posting by making sure my photos were high resolution and well orchestrated I try to make sure the content is appealing to the eye. I also like to have a message that I care deeply about in each post, whether it be Advocating for animals our planet, not eating meat. I also like to choose a song that I feel will uplift and inspire people something fun something powerful usually from the 80s. I keep it consistent I act paint model and I’m an animal rights activist so all of my posts are either of those things I also engage with each of my followers and I truly care about each one of them. As long as they are considerate. I feel supported and loved in my social media space which I am very grateful for, but it is hard work. Sometimes I feel like it’s almost another job. I myself out there authentically and honestly and am consistent and courageous. I challenge myself if there’s any fear or blockage I make sure that I push through that, and the outcome is most likely always well received. human beings recognize authenticity, and they know when someone cares so care and be authentic and try to be as positive as you can even when things are rough.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clientele for me is having representation a Gallery right now Miller Gallery in Charleston South Carolina and Aspen Luxe, in Aspen Colorado. Also, social media instagram @CharlotteFilbert. Participating in art fairs, charity events there are a few charities that I give to every year not for new clients but because I want to because it’s important to give back but it is old-fashioned networking and sometimes old-fashioned networking is the best!
