We recently connected with Charlie Walker and have shared our conversation below.
Charlie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Since the age of 9, I have been fascinated with cinema. Going to the theaters and seeing films at a young age piqued my curiosity and sparked my love for telling stories. I read a bit, and I wrote as well, but nothing compared to watching a film series like Star Wars on a home television. I had convinced myself that I wanted to act because that is who I saw on the screen as a kid. So, I participated in drama classes in middle school, but I never connected with those activities as much as I did when I shot films using a GoPro or an iPod. I even helped operate the curtains of the school play and found that more intriguing than being on stage myself. I realized that my true passion was to direct films and be the brains behind a vision. So I began filming movies at the age of 12, did videography-based work for charities, sports teams, and more in high school, and then pursued a college degree, earning a bachelor’s in fine arts. I had told myself since I was a boy that I would accomplish my dream of becoming a filmmaker. Now I prioritize helping lead a business, creating premium video production. I am a freelance filmmaker who shoots music videos for independent and signed artists. I also shoot commercial content for brands, and I have co-produced award-winning short films from my college years. My mission as a solo freelancer as well as a collaborator with Fallacie Creator Studios (a video production company) is to create artistically inspired videos that promote and bring desired results to brands and artists alike. My mission is to uplift communities in the art space and create entertainment that will inspire the next generations. I would love to pursue feature filmmaking and continue to grow my video business as I make great videos with the good friends I met along the way.
Charlie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, I am Charlie Walker. I am a freelance filmmaker who was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and pursued a degree in Film and Television. I’ve been fascinated by cinema since the age of 9, but it wasn’t until early 2024 that I started working in the film industry professionally. I was able to start shooting videos professionally after building relationships with a few good friends in film school who were eager to step into the industry like myself. As a freelance filmmaker, I provide premium video production services for brands and music artists alike. This includes, but isn’t limited to; commercials, music videos, promotional content, short-form content, documentary-style filmmaking, and narrative short films. My collaborators and I create premium-quality videos that help build our clients’ media presence and brand recognition. What sets us apart from the average production company is our ability to create unique and creatively inspired content that will engage an audience and generate results for the client. I am most proud of the diverse team of industry professionals I work with, who are passionate about the job and do great work. The production company I work with, Fallacie Creator Studios, is an excellent team of professionals who are innovative filmmakers ready to turn any artistic ideas into a reality for our clients.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had known earlier about the scale of the creative community and how many like-minded people there are in artistic spaces around the country and world. Simply utilizing platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Reddit can go a long way when you are looking for experience and building confidence in your craft. Also joining clubs and community events can help you build relationships with professionals in your field. I found my community in college, which is where I met the people I work with, and a lot of very good friends. If you are looking to network with people in your field, don’t be scared to make a few calls or reach out to people with questions. That is the easiest way to start a conversation and get started in the career you want.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission as a filmmaker is to continuously create and inspire for the rest of my life. I want to continue to build my business and share my work while having fun. My team and I’s goal is to break into feature filmmaking and create a feature film we love, and believe an audience will one day love. Art is for everyone to love and appreciate. I hope to make my art accessible to everyone.
