Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charlie Vue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Charlie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started the music journey back when I was 16 years old. I stopped following my dreams and passion because of the small city I was in, had no one else doing music and/or helping to motivate me. As a teenager, I couldn’t afford the music equipment and had to resort to free software which didn’t give out the most dynamic sounds. In my late 20’s is when I started to resume the music journey because I knew my passion for music will never die out and I wanted to kickstart the passion and drive I have. I felt if I would have kept going when I was younger and didn’t quit for a time, I would have built up my skill set and would have continued to improve a lot more than I am today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Charlie Vue, I also am known professionally as HMisfit and I own a record label call 35K Records. The name HMisfit is pronounced Mis-fit. The “H” is silent and the reason behind that is to pay homage to my roots which is Hmong pronounced Mong. The label being named 35K Records is also a word play. In English it’s exactly as it sounds but, if you were to say the number 3, 5, and the letter “K” in Hmong separately it would be Peb Tsis K which translates to “We Don’t Care.” The motto for the label is we don’t care about the noise, we will be the noise!
I got into the industry because I see how hard it is for upcoming artists to get exposure. No matter how good you are the industry is so competitive and doing it alone sometimes is hard. The goal of my label is to find the upcoming talents and give them a platform to showcase their skills, as well as assisting them and helping their dreams come true of recording a song that is theirs. The cost for recording, mixing, mastering and finding the instrumentals are not cheap. I wanted to help them with that portion so that they don’t stress about it. All they would need to do is bring their vocal prowess and put everything on the track.
Not only does 35K Records help artist’s record music but we also set up shows and concerts so these artists can showcase their skills live.
I’m most proud of the work everyone in 35K has put out, and also the success of our first live event, selling out the venue in Eau Claire, WI at The Plus.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my personal view, I believe society can help support by just simply going to the local shows. When you show up to local shows you will be amazed at how talented individuals in your small communities are. We are so fixated on Hollywood and all the superstars that we forget to focus on our smaller groups locally. Additionally, to help, you can follow an artist’s page which goes a long way and it is FREE. Subscribing to their YouTube page is FREE. Sharing their work is FREE and with everyone doing that we can help each other thrive in this creative ecosystem.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal and mission of 35K Records is to grow and throw bigger shows and events; also, to find MORE and MORE talents in the smaller towns/cities. We want to show people that anyone who has the drive can make it. Lastly we want to rival that of Hollywood one day and show them that we too can also rise.
