We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Charli Terry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Charli below.
Charli, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I obtained my BA in Communications with a concentration in Recording Industry and I had the chance to be mentored by a really cool Professor who taught me by hands-on experience. Honestly I learned at a good pace, I just wish I would’ve stayed focused on what my goal was and worried about the other things later. Financial stability definitely played a big part in my journey. We all know that artists/creatives starve until they put in their 10,00 hours. If I had more footing money-wise I believe I would’ve been a bit farther in my career.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Media and Event Curator of a brand called Billionaire Boss Media. I started learning how to put together shows, and events in my childhood and teen years. I was involved in a performing arts summer camp, a teen music group, and I was a part of a teen party promotion group. Through my events, I offer entrepreneurs of all walks (artists, photographers, cannabis vendors, yoga instructors, food vendors, etc) a platform to network and elevate their brand.
I pride myself on my ability to be versatile. I enjoy catering to the various arts that the city has, and enhancing how rich our culture is.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The aspect of creativity I gain from the most is definitely knowing that no one can come up with the things I can. The vision I have can be copied of course, but when I lock-in no one can do what I do.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A very simple goal I have is to support the culture. I want people to feel inspired and reminded of their greatness when they walk away from an event put on by Billionaire Boss Media. I don’t want to completely focus on making myself the celebrity in this particular lane. I want to bring my community to the forefront and watch it thrive.
