Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charles Massey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Charles thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
Since becoming an actor in mid-2019, I have sought out opportunitites on my own through various casting sites and word of mouth. I got my first agent in late 2021 through Actors Access and selected by an agent that said although I didn’t have alot of experience at the time, they saw something in me and decided to take a chance. Currently, I work with two amazing talent agents along with a management team who have gotten me some great auditions.
I feel like for 2023 , I have the winning team that will enable to compete for some major roles!
Charles, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Charles Massey, SAG-AFTRA actor born and raised in Harlem USA! After working 30+ years in Corporate America, I was let go from my former company in 2019 and the rest has been history. I have been acting for almost 4 years and always learning the craft on a daily basis via online, in person workshops/classes or as simple as watching television. While I never envisioned this, it is something I feel was meant to be and God put me on this path for a reason. I have enjoyed the ups and downs of this industry and have had the opportunity to be on some of the biggest productions in film and television! Who can ask for anything more?
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most reward aspect for me has been the opportunity to be on set with some of the industry greats and watch them work up-close! Taking mental notes and if afforded the chance, pick their brain for a few minutes.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The thing that drives me the most and puts the battery in my back (so to speak) is being let go from my company blindly! Never saw it coming on this particular day and was scheduled to take a test for a license that same morning.
