Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charles Freeman V. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Charles , thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Overall, I think success comes from continuous work and always looking to gain knowledge. Those two combined for me at least, have been factors in my success. You have to be willing to learn and apply that knowledge to your mission. It’s always an on going process.
Charles , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Fashion has always been my form of expression. It’s an art that connects to so many. We all get dressed in the morning and looking good does make you feel good. I’ve seen the effect of people being proud of how they look and that then can dictate how they carry themselves. When it comes to my brand, my mission is to have people always complete. Aside from my products, AristocratV5 is a representation of originality and confidence. Most brands go for a look but I go for a feel. Despite the garment or accessory, it’s how the individual feels in my product that keeps me going. We want people to walk around happy and be content with themselves
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My background. Being a minority from Los Angeles, there’re a lot of external forces that dictate how the youth especially, go about their lives. Artistic outlets saved me, and a lot of individuals I know from crime, from negative influences, and a lack of finding their true selves. With fashion being my forte, it’s important that I always reiterate how your day is determined by yourself. Despite the external forces around us that apply a lot of pressure, it’s very important to ask yourself “is this for me?” or “am I doing this for them?” It has to be balanced.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I grew up surrounded by gang culture where the influences can easily distract an individual. It takes an extreme amount of will power to stand up and say “This isn’t me”. Coming to those conclusions provides clarity. It’s very important to know where you came from, and often times that can overpower where we want to go. Finding a form of expression for yourself that speaks to you, is magic. You have to lead by example.
