Charlene , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking the leap into full-time entrepreneurship was one of the most pivotal risks I’ve ever taken. It wasn’t a decision made overnight but rather the result of years of personal and professional development while balancing a full-time job. I had always been passionate about helping others, and after my bariatric surgery, I felt a deep calling to share my journey and empower others facing similar challenges. However, the idea of leaving the security of my job was daunting.
I began by building something on the side coaching clients, creating content, and immersing myself in learning everything I could about personal development and life coaching. I spent evenings and weekends networking with people in and around my niche, absorbing knowledge, and expanding my skill set. Every podcast episode I produced, every blog post I wrote, and every connection I made was a step towards building a foundation strong enough to support my dreams.
Then, the unexpected happened I lost my job. What could have been a devastating blow turned into an opportunity because I had been preparing for this moment without even realizing it. The side hustle I had nurtured was ready to become my main hustle. I dove in full-time as a life coach and content creator, and it was the best decision I ever made.
The risk paid off in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I now run a thriving coaching business, helping others build confidence and transform their lives. Taking that risk taught me the power of preparation, the importance of trusting in my passion, and the incredible rewards that come when you bet on yourself. It was a risk, yes, but one that led to a life filled with purpose, passion, and endless possibilities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Char Holmes a mom of three, a wife, a first-generation American, and someone who took a personal struggle and turned it into a thriving business. My journey into the world of mindset coaching and personal development began with my own weight loss journey through bariatric surgery. It wasn’t just about losing weight; it was about gaining a new perspective on life, confidence, and what’s possible.
While juggling a full-time job and family life, I started sharing my story and helping others on the side. What began as a side hustle quickly grew into a passion for empowering others. I found joy in guiding people to unlock their potential, and soon, I was offering one-on-one coaching, creating content, and hosting workshops. When I eventually lost my job, I took the leap, diving full-time into my business as a life coach and content creator.
Today, I offer a mix of coaching services, eBooks, a podcast, and events all designed to help people build confidence and take control of their lives. My approach is unique because it’s rooted in my real-life experiences, blending professional insights with the relatability of someone who’s been in the trenches. I help my clients break through limiting beliefs, develop a success-driven mindset, and create actionable plans to achieve their dreams.
What I’m most proud of? The community I’ve built and the transformations I get to witness daily. I want my clients and followers to know that I’m here to support them every step of the way. Whether you’re a busy parent, a dreamer with a side hustle, or someone ready to make a big change, I’m living proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible. Let’s take that step together!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started sharing my story on social media, my goal was simple: connect with people who could relate to my journey. I didn’t focus on numbers; I focused on authenticity. By being genuine, vulnerable, and real, I created a space where people felt seen and heard. I spoke as if I was having a conversation with a close friend, and that’s how I began to build rapport with my audience.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of knowing your audience. Who does your content speak to? Understanding your ideal audience your avatar is crucial. For me, it’s people seeking transformation, whether through confidence building, mindset shifts, or personal development. When you know who you’re speaking to, your content becomes more focused, impactful, and relatable.
My advice for those starting out? Treat every follower as if they’re part of a stadium-sized audience. Engage with them, respond to their comments, and show genuine interest in their journey. Consistency is key regularly show up with content that resonates and provides value. Whether it’s through posts, stories, or videos, let your audience see the real you, and they’ll feel a deeper connection.
Remember, growth takes time, but when you speak to the heart of your audience with authenticity and purpose, you’ll build a community that’s engaged and loyal. Know your audience, speak directly to them, and watch your influence grow.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the hardest lessons I had to unlearn was the weight of imposter syndrome the belief that I wasn’t enough or didn’t deserve the success I was working toward. I spent so much time questioning my worth and feeling like I had to be “perfect” before I could truly help others. The truth? I didn’t need to be perfect I needed to embrace my imperfections because they were what made me unique.
The turning point came when I realized that my story the ups, the downs, the messy parts was what gave me the power to connect with others. I wasn’t just a coach, a content creator, or a speaker I was someone who had walked through struggles, overcome them, and came out stronger on the other side. My journey wasn’t a polished, picture-perfect path it was real, raw, and deeply relatable. And that’s what mattered most.
Once I released the need to “have it all together” and started owning my story and my imperfections, something shifted. I stopped playing small and started showing up fully as myself. That’s when I began to attract clients, followers, and opportunities that resonated with the real me. I now see that our imperfections aren’t flaws—they’re the exact things that allow us to connect, inspire, and empower others. Embrace your story, imperfections and all, because that’s where your true value lies.
