Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charleen Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Charleen , thanks for joining us today. Let’s go back in time to when you were an intern or apprentice – what’s an interesting story you can share from that stage of your career?
In 2008, 20 years old I was in my last creative class TV & FILM at Elegance International a professional makeup school in Hollywood where my Film teacher who had been on many FX Movies, saw something in me. He secretly gave me a direct number to Larry Bones Head/key FX Mua for Halloween horror nights Hollywood . I called and got his assistant and they wanted to interview the next day in Glendora Ca at 8 am I worked graveyard as my surviving job I didn’t get off til 430am! so I drove to Glendora after work ate at Dennys to Pass time and freshen up and slept in my car until the interview. showed up and was hired on the spot for the mask department at universal studios Hollywood. Moral of the story, you never know who’s watching or observing you when I went to class even on 4 hours of sleep because I worked graveyard I always gave 100% to my designs

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
How I got into my industry? Was first having a passion to transform faces and make characters hence why I went to FX School which taught me Special Fx, Primary Beauty Makeup, Fantasy, theatre, movie and television later on Finding a similar art to transform which was eyebrows, and I later went back to become an esthetician and also learning body art to solely focus EVERYTHING eyebrows. Number one thing that kept me going was consistency and the passion of wanting to make ppl feel beautiful inside and out. God gave me these gifts so I can walk in my purpose. What sets myself and my brand apart from every other Salon out in LA is I don’t cookie cut any look with a prime focus on brows I pride myself on uniqueness and symmetry. Most proud of Never giving up, through covid and through life struggles opening up a business as a 27 years old Latina who was a single mom, in LA was one of the most riskiest things considering there’s a salon at every corner. Next year 2025 Arched Turns 10 years and I will be celebrating 18 years in the industry and I’m looking forward to Continuing influencing and Encouraging ANYONE who has a dream to DO IT !

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
1000% would choose this field. Meeting 1,000s of faces and listening to people’s story and them becoming my extended family. From Alopecia clients to cancer clients to Young teens being able to utilize my hands and creative brain to impact their life I couldn’t ask for anything. Else

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
There’s a few things that keep and has kept my reputation solid. Being ON TIME punctuality is key, showing up is 90% of the work. Service delivery; My clients have been repeats because I do 100% every single time, I always say it’s easy to get someone in your chair but it’s so much more challenging to have keep them coming back, and it’s because the industry is saturated but I believe we all have a unique calling and you should really dwell in that. Also, lastly SOCIAL MEDIA you must be consistent and present in my classes I teach something call the power of a hashtag and it’s really A second job to your craft but will set you aside
