We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Charity Mullins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Charity, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The reason behind why I do what I do is really to help others and ensure others know there are so many avenues to get to where they ultimately want to get to and intervening by helping them map out a plan and getting their resume in alignment so when an opportunity presents itself, they can execute successfully and with great confidence. I truly have always been a “I want everyone to win” person and I truly believe in giving back that way really helps and hearing people’s follow ups after helping are amazing because their so much farther with the guidance I’ve provided so it’s always great to know the constant impact being made.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, I started out in HR in 2011 but really blossomed in 2017 when I landed my first ever big girl HR Role. I went to graduate school for human Resources where I earned my MBA as well as my HR certification from HRCI back then in which I am currently in process of doing a recertification.
Career wise, I started out in Benefits as a Benefits Specialist, then wanted to know more so the HR Coordinator was my first big girl job, HR Specialist, HR Generalist, Employee Relations Specialist/Advising/ and HR Business Partner but now back in Labor and Employee Relations.
Freelance wise, I do HR Resume Revamping and Consulting where I’ve worked with over 90 clients on Resume Revamping and career coaching. I launched my website back in 2020 but recently relaunched Nov/ December 2023.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My word.
My word is my bond. I gained 99% of my clients via word of mouth (while having an active website). Follow up and follow through is important. If I say,/said I was going to do something, I do/did.
Feedback.
All Feedback is necessary to grow, good or bad but I always operate from a, how can I do better so I can always improve so I take feedback as constructive feedback. If you can’t take constructive feedback, how can you grow.
Results.
I’m Results driven and extremely ambitious so seeing people land jobs or tell me how they did in an interview pre interview training with me, speaks volumes.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth and Social Media.
