Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charity Hamidullah . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Charity , thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Since a child I knew that I was an artist but I was always told that art was a hobby and could have never been a career. From then, I aimed to be rebellious and rise above the stigma of a starving artist.
At, 15 years old, I began my career as a tattoo apprentice/ artist at East Side Tattoo in Rochester, New York. I was afforded early on the opportunity to enter a truly abundant career path.
Dedicating my life to art wasn’t always easy. There were many trials and tribulations putting myself on the line. But, this journey entailed me with strength to grow into unlimited possibilities.
17 years later, I have been fortunate to have a fruitful tattoo career which has blossomed into an opportunity to grow as a muralist, painter and illustrator. I’ve traveled the world with my art, met phenomenal people and transplanted myself into the beautiful community of Atlanta.
I’m truly grateful not only to be-able to live off of my art but have to pay much respect to my fearless heart. Having minimal fears or the ability to face them sped up not only my career but opened many doors to become whatever I dreamed to be.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Charity Hamidullah. I am an artist, muralist, tattooer and illustrator. Though these are my titles at the moment; there is truly no limit to my creativity.
At this time, I am grateful to work as a full-time muralist within the City of Atlanta. I center my practice around creating art which unites and empowers the space. My style ranges from colorful figurative work, to illustrative installations and even abstract art.
Over the years, I have been honored to have worked with clients like Microsoft, Target, Georgia Tech the City of Atlanta and the National Domestic Worker’s Alliance of America. And, am truly excited to continue my journey, connect with more spaces in hopes to inspire more communities.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for being a public artist is the opportunity to create for others. My art has provided me the space to serve my community, inspire individuals and spread the power of art.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is powered by love. At a young age, I was blessed to grow up in a culturally and spiritually diverse family powered by love. Since then, I have always tried to do my best to exude this within my art with intentions to spread love like my family and God have always taught me.
