We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Charity Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Charity below.
Alright, Charity thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I was growing up my mother always said that if you didn’t have the right attitude in the kitchen, then your food would not turn out right. You had to cook with love and pray over everything you make. That stuck with me, and when I started to cook and bake I could really tell the difference between something that was just thrown together and something that was really truly made with love. That is how I came up with my name “Made with Love” 1 Corinthians 13:13 Three things will last forever faith, hope, love, but the greatest of these is love.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Charity, I am 22 years old and I have an at home baking business. I have been baking for about 2 and a half years. I actually got into because I was bored one day and decided to make scones for my church’s cafe. Everyone loved them so I made a different flavor of scone the next Sunday. And I quickly realized that I love to bake and to create new flavor combinations. So I started to bake consistently for the cafe and each week was a new baked good a new flavor til finally I decided that I wanted to start my business. I provide a variety of baked goods from scones, muffins to banana bread, but my specialty is cupcakes. They are also my most popular seller. I provide flavors that you wouldn’t get anywhere else such as raspberry white chocolate or peach cobbler. And I put as much effort into how they taste into how they look. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m able to come up with a completely new menu of delicious flavors for every season of the year, providing my customers with something new to choose from always.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the year that I spent baking for my church’s cafe really gave me the chance to put my product out there and give a good consistent product. So the people that attend my church are use to an innovative fresh baked good from me and come to expect it. So when I decided to go into business I had a giant client pool there already. And those people told their friends and their friends and I have already built my reputation before I even started selling and I have been able to maintain it with every new client.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I would say if not word of mouth, then social media, Facebook to be more specific. I post all of my new flavors on my profile as well as my business page and I get most of my new clients from when my regular customers share the post. Social media I say plays a big part in getting my product out there and sparking new Interest
