Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Charity and Cierra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Charity and Cierra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
It was a dark and stormy night. No, but seriously, we had a client cancel a meeting last minute, and we decided to take the hour and do a brainstorming session. Being Biblical life coaches by trade, we knew that we were asking the wrong question. What was the question that we needed to ask? How do we get women excited about going to God to ask those burning questions that we all have? Our current business name was solid, but it wasn’t exciting. One phrase that we always found ourselves saying to each other was, “open your bible.” We partnered that with girl and voila – “girl, open your bible” was born. We felt a rush of joy & knew right away that we had found the right name!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Girl, open your bible! exists to point women to God in all things. Whether at our boutique, during our online bible studies or in our life coaching Academy, we’re dedicated to leading God’s daughters towards a deeper connection with Him. We strive to make the process of opening your Bible engaging and exciting, with the hope of inspiring women to grow closer to God.

How’d you meet your business partner?
We get asked a lot how we met. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, we met at church. I invited Charity to lunch and we exchanged phone numbers. I didn’t follow up, but two weeks later, Charity reached out to me. We had to wait another two weeks to make it happen due to our busy schedules, but we committed to a specific day and time. We had our first lunch at my house and it felt like we were long lost sisters. We talked about what felt like everything that day, and Charity even took a two-hour lunch break.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
We had to unlearn only doing what we want and lean to solve the problem of our customers. For example, we liked the original name of our business. However, it wasn’t as appealing as we wanted. Once we rebranded, people got it.
