We recently connected with Charita Snow and have shared our conversation below.
Charita, appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
If I could go back in time, I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Everything in life has its own timing and mine just so happened to have started right before Covid. I was in management in the banking industry where I would work a full-time job and work my business which originated in September of 2019. With only being a business owner for 6 months, I was let go from my corporate job and learned fast how easy it was to replace my salaried income to doubling that within my first year in business. Saving money is very important which helped me when they shut everything down.
If I were to have started sooner, I’m honestly not sure where I would be today. There are a few things in business I wish I had taken my time, accessed a few things before moving forward, but it’s all a part of the learning process. My advice would be to take your time, set a savings goal before moving up to something bigger because it’s You Vs You. Never compare yourself to anyone in the same field as you but keep looking forward as you check off each goal you hit. This current journey has taught me so many life lessons, strengthened my interpersonal skills and allowed me to gain confidence within myself. So, if you ever want to master a skill, just keep at it until it becomes easy.

Charita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Charita Snow, a licensed Esthetician here in Jacksonville, FL. I’ve been in business since 2019 and didn’t learn of this industry until 2018. I’ve always had a passion of being my own boss as I was surrounded by individuals who made it happen. I birth my brand Fab Skincare in 2019 a month after graduating Esthetician school and now service clients from all over such as facials, lash extensions, brow tinting and waxing services. What set me apart from other beauty professionals is how personable I am with everyone that comes thru my salon doors. Being relatable to your customers is very important and striving for top tier customer service. I’m most proud of entering into my 5th year in business continuously evolving and figuring out what’s right for my brand and team. Having a work/life balance for yourself and staff is very important as we have to be in the best health in order to produce quality work for our customers. We take customer feedback very important which is why we are highly google rated in Jacksonville. If you’ve never been pampered before, Fab Skincare is the place to be.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Growing my audience took me some time as I’ve never been a social media type of person, nor did I like being in front of the camera. My advice is to pay for marketing ads versus paying for followers. It doesn’t matter if you have 1 million fake followers, you’re only going to get business from actual customers that can see the work and word of mouth. This is why it’s very important to leave a good first impressions, provide quality service and thank your customer for visiting with you. You only get one shot to impress your customer.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Setting an example everyday you walk into your business. Respect is earned and if your team see you dressing accord, they will simply fall in line. Set the expectation of how you would like things ran and if it doesn’t meet their expectations, then they aren’t meant to be a part of your team.
