We recently connected with Charge Michael and have shared our conversation below.
Charge, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
When the pandemic hit, we were forced to change our entire business model to an online platform in less than a week. As the pandemic continues to improve, we are able to offer both online and in-person services, Online lessons were never on our list of offered services, and it has had a positive impact on our business.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
DRMA is a private music lesson facility in the North Valley offering lessons for most instruments, ages, and experience levels both online and in-person.
We saw a flaw in the private music education world where retailers were putting the lesson areas at the back of the store and focusing on retail sales instead of the needs of the students, teachers, and the families that kept their businesses afloat . Taking care of our staff and clients first has been the main focus of our business, and it’s what we believe sustains our continual growth. We also strive to be up to date with the latest technologies that help provide a fun and smooth experience for everyone.
We are proud to have been a part of so many students’ development and growth through lessons and recitals. Many have gone on to prestigious music colleges and programs around the country, but they started here with us. While we do take our jobs seriously, we want to make sure that all of our students have a relaxed and fun experience here at Desert Ridge Music Academy.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Google Ads and word of mouth!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Having opened our doors on the precipice of the the 2008 economic collapse, we learned how to maintain clientele by being kind, forgiving debts, and making sure that we placed the needs of the students first. Having been through that experience made it fairly easy to navigate the pandemic.
