We were lucky to catch up with Charee’ Washington recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Charee’ thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Clarity & Prosperity Counseling Services’ mission is “Finding Peace in Your Purpose.” I have been a Social Worker and Therapist for 16 years and had the pleasure to work with different populations and settings. I found that for many individuals who struggle with their Mental Health, there was an underlying moment where through all of life’s struggles and obstacles they forgot or lost track of their purpose. I have found that once the mental health symptoms were addressed that people still felt a sense of being lost or not seen. My passion and desire is to help individuals not only recover, overcome and learn to manage their mental health symptoms. I want individuals to know they still have a purpose for their lives and that there is another level of freedom available to you when you are living out your life’s purpose. I want people to know that living with a Mental Illness or Mental Health struggle does not take away the fact that their life has a purpose and there is freedom in that purpose.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am an Arizona Native and I have been in the field of Social Work for the past 16 years. I have been a Licensed Social Worker and doing therapy for about 13 years. I am the proud owner of Clarity & Prosperity Counseling Services PLLC in Phoenix, AZ where we provide individual and group counseling services for individuals who have experienced trauma and struggle with healthy boundaries, attachment, and establishing and/or maintaining healthy relationships. We also work with individuals who are struggling with anxiety and depression. I see individuals who are as young as 13 years old through adulthood. I also work with groups and schools who are looking for support with establishing a healthy Social Emotional environment for both the staff and the students. Since Covid many of our students and staff struggle with anxieties regarding healthy and safety, so I have the opportunities to go in and provide support and ideas for the teachers and students on how to maintain healthy emotions as well as how to communicate and cope with the negative emotions. I am most proud that I have the opportunity to help others through some of the darkest times a person can face that I also have the honor to remind them that life still has purpose after the storm and help them find what that purpose maybe. It’s the best reward that I can ask for as a Therapist.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Clarity & Prosperity Counseling Services is actually the result of a career pivot that I had to make. I was previously a Contract Therapist and some unexpected changes took place that resulted in the location where the practice I worked with changing. I wasn’t able to move with the practice to the new location and so I had to make a decision to try out what I had been working towards for several years. I found myself facing the music that I had no idea how stepping out on my own and starting my own practice would turn out. So, I stepped out on faith and took a chance and here we are. I’m new to business and running a private practice on my own but with the support of my Family, Pastor, and Colleagues in the field, I’ve managed to continue to build and grow in ways that I would have never imagined possible in the past 6 months that I’ve been open.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

The most effective strategy has been patience and consistency. There are days when there are an abundance of calls and inquiries about counseling services and there are days when there may be none. I remind myself that although there is a great need for Mental Health and Counseling services, each individual has to get to a place where they seek the help before they reach out to me. With that in mind I just ensure that I am consistent in my marketing and presence on Social Media, that the services that I provide are aligned with the populations that I specialize in and that I remember that it’s all a process that will work out in the time it’s meant to.
