We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chare’A Taree a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chare’A , appreciate you joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
When I first began my career as a wellness educator I partnered with different social organizations and non profits to make wellness accessible and create unique experiences of healing for people in my community. I worked a 9-5 job to provide for myself and used every extra dollar and all of my time to put back into these projects. I started my business because I am deeply devoted to creating safe spaces for healing and learning so that we can all reach the highest version of ourselves. It has never been about money for me. But, I realized that my gifts and hard work deserved to be compensated and I did not need to deplete myself in order to have success. I worked hard to receive and create opportunities with my work and also did deeper work in myself. Entrepreneurship will bring you on an entirely different wellness journey on its own and to succeed you must surrender to it. Fast forward 5 years later, I finally achieved my goal of landing a long term contract with a client to teach meditation and stress-management that payed me my worth and opened even more doors for me. On my first day showing up at their downtown location, I looked around and realized that it was across the street from where I had held an event my very first year of teaching. That event had so much impact with all the women that attended- but I left giving my all and left the parking garage with no money left. I sat in gratitude sooo thankful that I kept going and giving out good all around me. Things were very different as I walked into the building with my new client. Have boundaries, but never stop doing what you are called to do. You never know when all that good will come back to you. There is always growth when you least expect and from seeds that you forgot you planted. Full circle moments like this remind me that everything is always manifesting for my good.

Chare’A , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Chare’A Taree and I am a Wellness Educator, Author, community advocate, and gardener passionate about helping people better integrate wellness into their life and career for total success! It is my passion to help others activate the power of the mind, body, spirit, and career wellness to create holistic success. I lead classes, keynotes, retreats, write, and record podcasts with my company Ye Self Care. I work with big corporations and ambitious people all over the world.
Ye Self Care was created due to my own struggles with balancing life and career wellness. Your wellness journey is directly correlated to the attainment of your goals. What sets me apart is my ability to create safe spaces and my integrity. It is important as a leader to practice the advice that you give. Leading a healthy life is my personal priority so I can show up as a wellness educator authentically and be an inspiration. People sense and feel that working with me. That is a huge reason why I am successful at what I do.
My goal is to serve as a guide: sharing tips and resources so that you can live a more Holistically Successful life.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I wouldn’t say it is the most effective but my business has grown most by word of mouth. When you operate with integrity and intentionality and cater to the needs of the people that you serve– clientele will grow based on word of mouth. Everything with me is an experience not just a moment. We live in a world where social media can be used to grow our clientele and introduce us to new people. We often times rely on going viral or increasing visibility to find our audience. However, serving and nurturing my current clients to a high level allows me to secure more opportunities. It’s grassroots for me. Network, support other business owners and creatives, attend events, and live intentionally and the clients will come. The only “drawback” is that it is not a strategy with outcomes that you can necessarily “control”. But, it makes so that if you ever need or want to drawback from social media you will still have clientele and not be reliant simply on social media to secure new clients. It feels good to hear “someone recommended you to me”, or “You really helped me with this so I knew I had to work with you again with…”. It means that you REALLY see and show up for people and you are great at what you do.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes, I would. Originally, I went to school to be a dentist. All that science increased my understanding of stress on the body and I like to say that I still make people smile just in a different way. It’s okay to switch directions at any time. As long as you stay true to your personal intention and mission in life. I love everything about what I do and the time affluence that I have. It has made me reshape what success means to me and how I set my goals in a beautiful way. I do what I love for a living and that is such a blessing that I never take for granted. I would do this work (and have) even if I did not get paid to do it. I have been frustrated and decided I would give up and choose a more traditional route only to wake up the next day with opportunities so intentional that I absolutely had to take it as a sign that I am on the right path. I think in every lifetime I am a teacher.
