We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Char Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Char below.
Char, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
When I first started my lash business, it was a one-person operation being mobile loading my products in my car meeting people at their homes. Scaling up involved a mix of strategic marketing, exceptional customer service, and continuous learning. I began by word of mouth marketing and referrals. Posting on social media to reach a broader audience and offering promotions to attract new clients. A turning point was collaborating with a long time friend, which significantly boosted my visibility by joining her salon. I rented a small space to start and It changed my business for the better. I faced challenges like balancing quality with increasing demand and navigating financial constraints, but implementing an efficient booking system helped with my day to day operations. Through persistence, strategic decisions, and learning from each hurdle, sometimes sweat and tears my business grew to what it is today.
Char, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a NYS licensed esthetician and esthetician instructor with years of experience and my own salon, I specialize in lash extensions while also offering a wide range of other esthetic services.
It’s many problems I solve for my clients but the favorite is allowing my lash babes to cut time getting ready for their day. Waking up with lashes solves plenty problems. Whether it’s allowing some to skip the makeup in the morning or just the application of lashes.
I am most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to stay in business during the time most had to shut down. Keeping steady clientele on a rotating schedule allowing me to provide for myself based off my business alone keeps me humble and very proud of myself.
What I want people to know is I’m dedicated to providing exceptional services, fostering confidence and self-care, and nurturing the growth of aspiring beauty professionals. I’m excited to continue expanding my offerings and serving my clients that turn into family with a hobby that turned into my passion .
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
