We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chantelle Fulce a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chantelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I have been an artist since 2018, with many showcasings of my art in group exhibitions around Phoenix Arizona. Before I started painting, I knew I had an eye for creativity and helping others with their creative projects. I never pursued right away, until I had twins and needed an outlet to release stress and gain support from my community. I quickly discovered my passion for fluid art, and became successful in sales almost immediately. The main key I believe that it took for me to be successful, was consistency and confidence. I never limited myself to being perfect or following standard rules, I just created and did it often. I started fluid abstract art with one painting at a time, started researching how to improved the quality and brand of my work and went from there. Years later, I now have a podcast helping other artists become professionals, courses on how to start an art business and so much more!
Chantelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In my second pregnancy in 2017, I became a mother of multiples, and the challenges as a mommy of multiples was hard. Suffered post partum depression, I knew I needed to find a way to release pressure of everyday motherhood, and do something creative for myself and discovered my talent and passion for art. My art drew attention on social media and I thought, what would it be like to showcase my work in a gallery, and a month later, I was exhibiting my work in a group exhibit where I connected with many other phenomenal artist, and sold out all six of my art works.
The thing that sets me apart from other abstract artist is my brand and color schemes. Most of my work is created with custom paint colors, and abstract designs. I create small works to large works and sold to many art collectors around the world.
I am proud of how far i’ve come. Currently, I am branching into teaching other emerging artists how to start an art business through my courses and podcast.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
One way I keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty is through my email marketing. I love to showcase my gallery of work through email, offer promotions and share the latest up to date information on what is next.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most challenging times in my art career was in 2021 when my daughter (who was three at the time) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I had to walk away from many projects, let go of contracts, and even step away from creating as I adjusted to my new normal with my family.
Although I stepped away for awhile, I did take time to stay fresh on trends and continued to create behind the scenes until I was ready to get back into the industry a year later.
This helped me grow in many areas in my art, but also made me realize life is short, and we have to find a way to pivot in the midst of adversity. It could either make you or break you, and I chose not to give up.
