We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chantelle Douglas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chantelle , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am building a legacy of stepping out from the status quo and living a purposeful life with no regrets.
My desire is not for people to remember what I’ve created, but for my children and their children to benefit from the choices I’ve made as an entrepreneur, one of the first in my family.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Chantelle, Founder and CEO of Write For You Media. Known in these social media streets as “The Queen of Digital Marketing.” I help visionary business owners and teams claim their rightful place in the digital space. We currently offer monthly social media management, email marketing, lead generation, community management, and marketing collateral creation services plus monthly consultations launched with a VIP DAY intensive. I began my marketing career in 2015 while working for a nonprofit organization. With a BA in Mass Communication–Public Relations, the executive director thought I’d be a good fit as their social media manager and email marketer.
I loved it so much, a year later I wrote the blueprint for my business. I started out helping former college peers and local businesses.
Years later I’ve helped dozens of companies around the world and have assisted over 2K women in business in my online community.
My overall goal is to alleviate the marketing stress from my clients’ shoulders. Creating content is my happy place and I understand the burden it can be for many. I never want to see business owners with great companies throw in the towel when it comes to digital marketing. Those are the people I like to serve. If you know you’ve been given a vision, but feel marketing is a challenge let’s change that before burnout sets in.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
As a Mom of of two awaiting the birth of baby number three, the balancing act of womanhood, motherhood, and entrepreneurship has been quite the journey. Even now my toddler is climbing on my back refusing to settle down for bed. Although, I’ve had to be resilient and endure during challenging seasons I understand that life is about choosing your hard because most great things don’t come easy. I choose to homeschool my children and focus on scaling my business to better sustain our lives.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
This is more so programming than a lesson. I had to learn that it is okay not to follow the societal norms when it comes to your life. We all were given divine assignments and when we accept our calling whether it be motherhood, teaching, singing etc we must find out how we should fulfill that assignment. It may look like college and career for some or it may look like trade school or traveling the world for others. I had to accept that feeling overwhelmed and burdened by staying on the clock did not make me lazy it just showed me I needed to do more personal development to tap into my divine assignment.
