Chantal, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My hero is my grandmother, Gloria Taylor. She has been a constant source of inspiration and strength in my life. Her unwavering love, kindness, and resilience have shaped me into the person I am today.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from my grandmother is the power of perseverance. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, she never gave up. She taught me that setbacks are just opportunities for comebacks, and that with determination and a positive mindset, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
My grandmother’s influence on my journey is immeasurable. She instilled in me a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others. She taught me the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their background or circumstances. Her selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need have left a lasting impact on me.
One particular story that stands out is when my grandmother volunteered at a local homeless shelter. She would spend her weekends cooking meals and providing support to those who had fallen on hard times. Seeing her dedication and genuine care for others taught me the value of giving back to our community and making a difference in the lives of others.
Another quality I admire in my grandmother is her ability to find joy in the simplest of things. She has taught me to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments and to find happiness in the little things. Her positive outlook on life has taught me to always look for the silver lining, even in the face of adversity.
Overall, my grandmother’s influence has shaped my values, my outlook on life, and my approach to relationships. She has shown me the importance of love, kindness, and resilience. Her unwavering support and belief in me have given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and overcome any challenges that come my way.
I am forever grateful for the impact my grandmother has had on my life. She continues to inspire me to be the best version of myself and to spread love and positivity wherever I go. She truly is my hero.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Chantal Taylor, a mother to three sons, is a true inspiration. She is not only a magazine owner and the founder of a skincare line, but she is also a cancer survivor. Born on December 23, 1991, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chantal faced a challenging start in life when she lost her mother at the tender age of three. Thankfully, her grandmother, Gloria Taylor, stepped in and became her rock and guiding light.
Together, Chantal and her grandmother built an unbreakable bond as they relocated to Jackson, Mississippi, following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Gloria played a pivotal role in shaping Chantal into the woman she is today. Sadly, in August 2021, Chantal experienced the unexpected loss of her beloved grandmother. This tragedy became a turning point for Chantal, motivating her even more to make something extraordinary out of her life and to honor her grandmother’s memory.
In March 2018, Chantal Taylor embarked on a remarkable journey by starting her own business called True Essence Organics. This venture was born out of her personal experiences and struggles with health. Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Desmoid Fibromatosis in 2006, Chantal’s skincare journey began. Desmoid Fibromatosis is characterized by cancerous growths in the connective tissue, often found in the abdomen, arms, and legs. Some desmoid tumors are slow-growing and may not require immediate treatment, while others necessitate surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or other medications.
Motivated by her own battle with cancer, Chantal founded True Essence Organics, a skincare brand that harnesses the power of nature’s raw ingredients to create products tailored for different skin types. Her mission is not only to provide high-quality skincare but also to inspire others facing similar challenges to embrace their inner strength and beauty.
Chantal’s journey is a testament to her resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit. Despite the obstacles she has faced, she continues to push forward, driven by her love for her children and the desire to make her grandmother proud. Her pursuit of a college degree in criminal justice, as a first-generation high school graduate and soon-to-be college graduate, showcases her commitment to personal growth and making a difference.
Chantal Taylor’s story is one of triumph over adversity, of turning hardship into motivation, and of using personal experiences to create positive change. Her strength, courage, and entrepreneurial spirit inspire us all to embrace our own potential and overcome whatever obstacles life throws our way. Chantal’s journey is a reminder that with determination and the support of loved ones, we can achieve greatness and leave a lasting impact on the world.
Desmoid tumors are a rare form of cancer, affecting a small percentage of the population worldwide. They are most commonly found in women between the ages of 15 and 60, although they can occur at any age. Around 900 to 1,500 new cases are diagnosed per year in the United States, with an estimated incidence of 1 to 2 per 500,000 people globally. In children, desmoid tumors are typically seen between the ages of 15 and 16.
The early signs of a desmoid tumor may include the presence of a mass or swelling, pain, loss of function in the affected area, or cramping and nausea when the tumor occurs in the abdomen. The exact cause of these tumors remains unclear, but doctors have observed that they occur when a connective tissue cell experiences changes in its DNA. These changes prompt the cell to multiply rapidly, forming a mass that can invade and damage healthy tissue.
Since her diagnosis in 2008, Chantal Taylor has faced numerous challenges in her battle against cancer. She has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical procedures, all while coping with additional health issues. Despite these obstacles, Chantal has shown remarkable resilience and achieved great success with her skincare business.
Chantal’s accomplishments are truly inspiring. She has been featured on the cover of Huami Magazine’s Jan/Feb 2022 edition, recognized in Shoutout Atlanta, and received The Entrepreneurial Shero Award in 2023. Her skincare products can now be found in stores near and far, including Walmart.com, and she has become a beloved figure in her community.
In December 2022, Chantal embarked on a new venture by starting The Legacy Magazine MS. The mission of this magazine is to revolutionize spending habits in communities by encouraging individuals to support small businesses. By providing a platform that highlights and promotes local entrepreneurs, The Legacy Magazine MS aims to spark conversations and inspire people to invest their money in the growth and prosperity of their own communities.
Chantal Taylor’s journey is a testament to her strength, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. Despite her ongoing battle with cancer, she continues to make a positive impact, both through her successful skincare business and her efforts to uplift and empower small businesses. Her story serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we have the power to overcome, thrive, and leave a lasting legacy.
