We were lucky to catch up with Chantal Reinoso recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chantal, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
Being a lash technician and creating a comfortable workspace for clients is one of the most important aspects of providing a luxury service, as many call it.
Having a closed environment for clients to feel at ease while having their eyes closed for at least an hour long is very impactful to a customer’s experience.
I started off working in my living room where at times we would have my family members walking in and out, conversing, and/or in the kitchen. I felt that was uncomfortable, especially to a stranger not knowing about their surroundings. Being in the living room also affected my lash adhesive which in turn would affect a client’s lash retention. Lash adhesive needs to be used within a controlled environment with a specific humidity level and temperature control. After some time, I have moved into a closed space where the environment was more comfortable for the client and also to my lash adhesive.
After I have moved into my own lash room, I noticed a tremendous difference in a client’s lash retention, which in the end helped get my name out there a little more and helped my business grow.
At times in the beginning some business owners are fortunate to afford their own business space to start offering services, I was not. At the beginning you encounter many trial and error’s and business is not as successful for some. I am grateful for those clients who have helped me from the very beginning until now, no matter the environment I had them in.

Chantal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Chantal Reinoso. I am a lash technician. I’ve always had a passion for the art and the beauty industry but never saw myself offering services. I’ve also always enjoyed helping others in whatever they needed. While finishing up my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice I took a leap of faith into taking a lash course and learning this new craft that was very trending worldwide. At first, I regretted it and was doubtful. However, I’ve never been the type to give up, I looked up to those lash technicians who have “made” it.
Lash extensions are a form of art, it’s a craft. I help clients feel their best and that is the most gratifying part of my career. Many get lash extensions to cut down on time getting ready for work or life. My biggest challenge has been the clients who have more of a closed/ hooded eye and after the proper consultation to find what style and size best fits their needs the end result makes a huge difference in their appearance.
I have stayed consistent in the way I treat my clients, I focus more on them feeling heard and understanding their needs as to what look they are looking for. I have a certain style I do, which is more of a textured wispy look. Some clients are not a fan, however I don’t mind adjusting to their style. I am always open to taking on challenges in different lash styles that are trending for the moment. I am most proud of my commitment to my business and my growth. I’ve used and still use every client as a learning experience in order to expand my knowledge and skills.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Consistency has helped build my reputation. Being consistent in offering a good service, great lash retention, and always being responsible with my scheduling.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My partner has helped me invest into my business and a great influence in my journey.
