We were lucky to catch up with Chantal Landreville recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chantal, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever had an amazing boss? What did you learn from them? Maybe you can share a story that illustrates the kind of boss they were or maybe you can share your thoughts on what you think made them an awesome person to work for?
I had two amazing bosses in my life. One of them who actually introduced me to the “idea” of what actually keeps an employee in the workspace. He bought the whole team a book called “Now Discover Your Strengths”, which was a research that showed what kept employees happy in the work space, and how most leaders would always focus on the faults and wrongdoing of employees versus leveraging what they are good at. This was a perfect tool to know how to motivate individual employees. It changed my perspective on how I show up with my work ethic, and be ok with not being great at everything. I can learn to improve with proper support, not get undermined but more valued for my strengths. It also showed that what did keep employees in a work space was how you were managed by your Leader. In both of these cases, because I had such a great leader, there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for them. I always strived to be the best for them. This is a massive tool to know as a leader (no matter how small or big the team).
Both of these leaders were always thinking outside the box, never feeling threatened in any way by team members being more knowledgeable or experienced in a specific area. They chose to be surrounded by the best of the best, making them stronger and more successful in their success as a team. They were also ok with everyone being different in their ways of working versus having to have a defined way, leaving room for employees to express at their highest potential.
Chantal, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an author, and a Love & Relationship Coach. My focus is helping people learn how to be in healthy relationships ideally, before they go into them. We have never been taught any relational skills to help us succeed including things like communication, emotional intelligence and self-awareness. I got in this industry for a few reasons;
1- I was always fascinated with human connection and understanding relational behaviour. I was so obsessed and curious about all things Love, dating and relationships, I consumed, read and attended everything around the the topics about it. At one point I realized how much knowledge I had.
2-My own pursuit to finding love and struggling constantly with it. When I changed my idea of what Love is really all about (not a romcom), and when I did find my partner & healthy relationship, I realized how lucky I had been to learn all of these things ahead of time to apply them and see both of us thrive. It’s one thing to find the right person, but that doesn’t mean that you will succeed in your relationship. We have never been taught the skills on how to. I’m making it my mission to teach people everything you need to succeed in relationships and not just in Romantic ones.
I worked in sales all of my life, twenty of them were in the wine industry. Sales is relational, relationship building! I learned very quickly one of the reasons I strived in sales was because I had extremely active listening skills. I was also curious and interested about people. It’s amazing how much people will confide in you when you are interested. I became a natural confidant often passing on advice about everything I would learn, read or experienced to help them.
My teachings in the area of Love & relationship are disruptive. I’m teaching a new way to approach Love versus what we have been conditioned about it, which is very Disney-fied and Rom-comed. With my method, healthy, thriving and exciting relationships are possible. We are all deserving of Love, and healthy human connections. :)
I do 1:1 coaching with clients, corporate events “Let’s Wine About Love” https://raiseyourlovesignal.com/lets-wine-about-love/
Communication masterclasses, Keynote Speaking.
I am the most proud of having jumped ship to leave the wine industry last Spring to pursue full time my passion project and the business I founded in 2021 as well as publishing my first book : “Raise Your Love Signal- A Guide to Attracting & Keeping the Love of Your Life.”
It’s a big leap leaving an industry and a company you thrive, love and succeed in to follow your heart’s purpose.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Expecting results yesterday when you start a new business today.
I got trapped in the nasty circle of comparing myself to others in this new field for me dismissing how they had been at it for years!
I also got stuck in the rat race of “I have to’ s, I should be, I need to’s, listening to everyone’s advice instead of my gut. I was so focused on DOING and spreading myself all over the place (setting myself for burnout) instead of allowing myself time to BE, to listen to my inner voice, and to be patient to build this new business .
We’ve been so conditioned and taught we have to overwork to succeed and build a business. I needed to remind myself that I am a heart centered entrepreneur and why I started my own business. It’s a massive mind shift but it’s so fulfilling and healthy.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
-My book, word of mouth still remains the best and my events “Let’s Wine About Love.” Contrary to what people think, Social media has not been the main lead for the investment and time it requires.
