We were lucky to catch up with Chantal Clarke recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chantal , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I started this business in the peak of the pandemic in Jamaica, I was both sceptical and confident at the same time because my idea was sleep and lounge wear capitalizing from the shift globally where most people would be at home and also working from home etc and needed the extra comfort. So the idea came in march 2020 I started to plan and get the right people in April and May 25th 2020 I launched my first line of robes in 5 colours.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Well my name Is Chantal Clarke born on the South Side of Jamaica and raised in the parish of St.Elizabeth. Im from a family of 65% entrepreneurs including my mother and grandmother who raised me so naturally growing up I had an idea of what it meant to work for yourself and that it was possible to sustain yourself like that. I got into the fashion industry because at 16 I started modeling and at 18 professionally which led me to be a finalist in Miss Universe Jamaica and many modeling opportunities came from that locally and internationally. Even though I didn’t have a fruitful career in modeling it led me to find my love for selling and advertising fashionable items like costume jewelry, Press nails, cocktail dresses, my own T-Shirt line and now my own Sleep & Loungewear brand Chantii Kouture. I think the pandemic caused a doom and gloom experience for alot of people and I particularly wanted to bring bold and vibrant colours to sleep and lounge wear to help enhance peoples moods going through such a difficult time. This business has taught me so much about timing and pushing through challenges because I also have a full time job and a student and it isn’t easy but once you stick to your passion and faith , God will always help you thought it.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
