We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Channin Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Channin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?

When I think of a hero, I think of someone who is courageous, loving and selfless. My mom is that and so much more. She has always been optimistic about life, tenacious, loving, confident and regardless of a situation, she made the best out of it. Watching her as I grew up helps me so much in business today because she taught me to keep a positive mental attitude towards your goals and ambitions. She was determined even when she because she ingrained in me that if I fail, it’s not the end of the world, I can keep trying to better myself and improve with anything. She supports in every way possible and guides me through difficult situations. She encourages me to take advantage of opportunities, to be a hard worker, to be kind to others, loving and selfless.

When things got tough, she didn’t give up, she was determined to turn her life around for the better and that has taught me so much more than any book can teach me. My business thrives today because of the valuable lessons I learned from her. I keep going because she believes in me and supports me through any and everything and makes me feel like the sky is definitely not the limit. She found the strength to keep pushing and that gives me the strength to do the same.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

My name is Cj and I am the creative director at Forever Tees and have been for about 5 years. I love to create because the possibilities of creating are endless. I take pride in creating designs and logos for you, your business, your special events, your children’s birthday parties, your bridal shower, and so much more. My favorite thing about designing is when I’m creating a logo for a new business owner because they trust me to help brand their business. I got into this business by creating fitness t-shirts and did not even imagine I would be where I am today. It took a ton of learning, soul searching, patience, and hard work but it was the best thing I could have done. I create logos, designs for t-shirts, provide promotional products, help apparel startups as well as business startups. I think what sets me apart from others is delivering exactly what the client wants and listening to them, and my creativity. I am most proud when a client refers my service to a potential client because that means I have exceeded their expectation. My followers continue to support me and I am excited to be on this journey with them. My work speaks for itself and I am continuing to improve my skills and knowledge to continue the work I love to do.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I think my hard work, consistency and creativity has helped build my reputation within my market and being able to keep promises.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth and a bit of advertising on social media.
