Hi Chanice , thanks for joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.

I remember my very first sale like it was yesterday.Her name is Charmaine and she saw my products being advertised on my father’s instagram and fell inlove with them.I remember how happy my father was when she messaged his page asking where can she place her order.We sent her the website and she placed her order.I was very happy someone saw my brand and wanted to try it but I really wanted her to LOVE what she bought.After receiving her products she messaged me telling my how much she loved her glosses,how cute the packaging were etc.That was when I cried and prayed thanking god.She and I became friends after that.I have her number to this day.That was when I knew that I was doing the right job.I loved how she saw every little detail and loved it! Oh,what a beautiful moment that was.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Shans Beauty Cosmetics was created because of an idea from a family member.From a young age,I’ve always been fascinated with makeup.From playing in my mother’s makeup kit,to getting my first makeup products for christmas,to doing my family and friends makeup for special events,to now owning my own makeup company.I was their go to makeup-artist and I loved it.While doing their makeup,I started experimenting and mixing different colours and products to get a desired look or effect.I loved the thought of creating something special so I started practicing my skills alot more on my family and friends.As the years go by I fell in love even more with makeup and tried almost every makeup product that has been out.From high end makeup to drugstore makeup I tried them all and that is where my brand comes in.I have been a consumer for so long I definitely know what people want.What my company represents is youth,vibrance,femininity,creativeness,style and also high quality long lasting ingredients.Every product we offer has been carefully hand picked and worn by myself before anyone else.We proudly aim to provide better quality products at an affordable price.Shans Beauty Cosmetics is all about enhancing you on a personal level so you can feel and be more confident in your self.

When I started my brand,I thought my sales would be through the roof!I thought any and everyone would just see my products love it and buy it.But it was nothing like that.Only a few of my many friends actually bought something from me.I wasn’t expecting that.It was the most heart wrenching thing.Business almost always never goes as planned.I didn’t know this as this was my first business.I had to come out of my comfort zone remove my shyness,my fears and become the face of my brand.I started to advertise my products myself and do different looks daily,read about learning the makeup business more and my brand started growing from there because of how real and genuine I was,people started to finally give my brand a chance and to this day I thank god for that lesson it helped groomed my business for what it is today.Now strangers buys daily and for that I am grateful.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I was born in Kingston,Jamaica lived there my entire childhood and most of my teenage years.My father migrated to paris and after a few years so did I.Initially,my career plans was to become a nurse.I came to france with high hopes of going into the medical field but nothing worked.I tried for sevearal years to get a career in the medical field but it never worked out.It came to a point where I was so depressed and had given up but then I remember having a conversation with my mother and thats when I pivoted.The only other thing I was passionate about and good at was makeup.I never thought in a million years I would have my own brand I just thought about being a make-up artist.An opportunity came about from my father and by the end of that week I found my business name,vendors etc.Everything went smoothly from there to the launching of my brand.I had been trying for years for something that just wasnt meant for me.I heard alot of nos and finally I got a yes by just doing something I love.
