Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chanelle Barnes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Chanelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Real estate is as vast as it is small and throughout my career I’ve worked with clients from the largest of corporations, first time home buyers to first time renters. Yet I’ve witnessed a repetitive miss; understanding how to simply transact and live within it real estate. The stories we hear of being house poor, buyer’s remorse, terrible landlords, etc, share a commonality —the lack of understanding how to conduct and construct within real estate.
This is how VenChi Homes commenced. VenChi Home’s focus it to be a hub of information for real estate, within real estate and ways to create your real estate. Sure there’s the purchase and sale of property, but how about the actual living? VenChi Homes is here to assist those who dream of having a piece of the real estate pie by simplifying what seems impossible, share the knowns and unknown and ultimately educate how to create the peace you undoubtedly deserve, in your space you call home.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
2023 marks the 14th year that I’ve been in real estate and I am so proud of the path that I’ve taken to get here. Starting off as a part-time leasing agent, I’ve worked my way up into becoming an intuitive licensed real estate broker who’s completed over 2000 transactions in my career, a rookie investor all the while mastering my craft in homemaking, with no plans to stop. Aside from developing and closing deals, I enjoy teaching others and learning from others, as I’ve gained a wealth of developmental nuggets along my way.
Whether it’s on project developments, consulting or mentoring, I believe in sharing the wealth when it comes to real estate and have been extremely passionate about helping those who may not have the same opportunities I’ve been fortunate to be a part of. I believe what has set me a part from others in my industry is my approach and educational methods shared with clients. I also believe in receiving what you put out, if you set proper expectations, a positive and welcoming environment, it’s bound to be reciprocated and in turn allows you to gain an upper hand in success when working with various people and communities. And those who’ve worked with me know that I am a true believer of teamwork makes the dream work!
On a personal note I am a love-love kind of gyal, who’s invested within my surrounding village that helped me become a proud wife, MoMe of two & tree hugger. You will find both Chopped and Dream Home Makeover on my favorite television watch list, and books of self development, history and inspiration on my bookshelves. With the hope that I can paint vivd collages of inspiration and peace with those I share time with both directly and indirectly.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
As cliche as it sounds, most in the industry would tell you that a referral is the biggest compliment you can receive. And let me tell you, it’s true! Most of the feedback I’ve received when I’ve asked how someone has heard about me or VenChi Homes, has been word of mouth. Social media has definitely had its perks, so I take to creating reels about different things relating to real estate, my family or homemaking projects in the works!
Have you ever had to pivot?
For sure! I’m doing so now! I knew when I started real estate sales, that it would be for short period of time because I am not passionate about it. And the real pivot hit when I found out I was pregnant with my son because the anxieties of life started to weigh on me. Having affordable health insurance, not waiting on a deal to close in order to be paid, the running around showing homes with clothes that felt uncomfortable or shoes no longer fitting. It was daunting mentally and so I decided to go back to corporate to help relieve some of the anxiety but after having my son is when I realized the path I wanted to take with VenChi Homes, that. afforded me to be able to teach and be a provider of enhancing a person’s real estate.
My most recent project has been the launch of my candle line, Caru Candles. The start of Caru Candles is truly my becoming a mommy story. Prior to pregnancy there was rarely a time you’d not see candles burning in my home. Burning candles allows me to set my mood, ambience, and aesthetic for my overall being. So when I became pregnant and tried to replicate my place of peace, I couldn’t due to the chemicals used in the candles I tried to burn. They made me so sick that the sight of the candles would trigger my sickness instantly. Thinking on my own experience, I started conversations with others about candle use and honed in on how they felt both physically and mentally. With further research I wasn’t surprised to find out the numbers on the usage of candles but I was astonished about the chemicals being used and burned in many that I personally used.
Needless to say, it was an eye-opening experience that evolved into a passion of creating my own line since the purpose of VenChi Homes is to help those create peace within their homes. Scented candles are stimulators that help create soothing environments. So my hope is that when a customer purchases a Caru candle, not only are they able to create that memorable state of peace for themselves, but also know that they’re burning an all natural 100% soy wax candle with clean fragrances. And as I said before, I have no plans on stopping here!
