We were lucky to catch up with Chanell Sinkfield recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Chanell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
After many years in a corporate setting, I just became so sick and so tired of constantly being away from my family and the lack of time I left in the day to spend with them. I literally dreamed of a day where I could own my own business, and built an incredible empire based on my dedication and my commitment to succeed. I dreamt of all this, PLUS I held tight to my core desire to truly serve and build connections with people. I also really wanted more freedom and time back (for my family and myself) and the ability to decide when and where my time was best spent. So, I took a huge leap of faith and quit my corporate job and took a chance on real estate. Although, at the time I had no idea how much real estate would fulfill my ambitious dreams, I knew it was a start!
Thankfully, my real estate journey has been nothing short of incredible for me and for my family! Best risk in life I’v ever taken!
Chanell , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My real estate journey started at the end of 2018, but I like to think it started way sooner than that. When I graduated college, the job market was horrendous, but I knew I had to get off of my parent’s couch and into a career, so I took a corporate job in Dallas at a mortgage company that had absolutely nothing to do with my degree. Looking back, I like to think it was a foreshadowing to my career now as a realtor.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Ninja Selling: Subtle Skills. Big Results, by Larry Kendall.
This has been one of THE best books I’ve read during my real estate career.
As a Realtor this book is a great road map to organize your business of client relationships. I’m so thankful my broker recommended it to me. Ninja Selling rings true to me and how I view the world. Reading this book has allowed me to provide better service for my clients while creating better value for them overall. I highly recommend this book for anyone in sales, regardless of their product.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been staying consistent with social media and referrals. It took me a while to figure out the social media scene and to stay consistent, but I’ve seen amazing results from it. And then there’s referrals. Referrals drive my business and I’m extremely lucky to even be at that point in my career. I make it a point to treat every client I service with respect and compassion and in return I’ve been blessed to see referral from my efforts.
