Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chanel Landry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chanel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I’ve always wanted to have my own business. I just wasn’t sure what type because I’m multi-talented. Im good with decorating, caring for others and I love fashion.I prayed about it and God showed me a medical scrubs business. I jumped right on it and started to google business names. The moment I googled a new scrub store popped up not even a minute from me. Most rules for scrub companies are not within 15 mile radius. Doubt came into play so I decided I’ll switch it up a bit and go with my previous idea a clothing store for kids instead . I love fashion and really enjoyed dressing my daughter up. I knew this ideal would be perfect. There weren’t many children stores located in my area that provided a variety of styles for kids. Trendy, affordable, and quality pieces. I decided to open a children’s boutique. A fashion closet for kids. “Where Style Meets Grace”. I started off offering girls and boys apparel from new born to size 14. One Mardi Gras season I decided to add a few pieces of women apparel. Omg my business really started growing. After Mardi Gras I continued to add women apparel and accessories. It has been a completed blessing and success. This year we celebrated 3 years in business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Chanel Landry I’m the owner /CEO of Paris and Paisley Boutique. I’m a Registered nurse and mom to a 15 yr old beautiful daughter. I came into the healthcare industry because I was inspired by my grandmother that raised me. She worked in the hospital for numerous years. I came into the fashion industry because I felt it was time for me to use the gifts & talents God has blessed me with to inspire and bless others. We provided our customers with beautiful, quality, and affordable clothing. Being genuine and helping our customers feel good and confident in the skin that they are in sets up apart. It doesn’t matter if if you are skinny or curvy. You are perfect the way your are. We connect with our customers via social media and in the community. Each ordered piece is packed with love. I love all my customers and supporters. I call them PPB squad. They have been very supportive from day one.Sometimes when I get discouraged someone is always there to uplift me. Even when I think they aren’t watching they are. Sometimes I get encouraging Dms, inboxes, or text messages from them. Letting me know they enjoy my content to keep pushing, motivating, leading and being a great business owner. The little things brings so much joy to my heart. Being a business owner is not always easy we have our good days and bad. Plus working a 9-5, being a single mother, etc.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Sure, Paris and Paisley was founded in 2019. We started off really small. No hired models, brick and mortar, or influencers etc. Every order touched was personally packaged with love by me. Brand new to business I made some mistakes, but I learned from them and kept going. During my journey I was faced with the pandemic like many others. Some days I had no orders other days multiple.During that time I lost my grandfather & other family members. I didn’t let that stop me. I kept going. I showed up for my audience and customers. Every lesson was a blessing. To the business owners and creatives reading this article always remember life will throw you curve balls, but keep going. It’s not how you start, but how you finish. On this journey I’ve dealt with anxiety, stress, and held the unexpected care taker role for a short period. At times I wanted to quit, but I didn’t. I got a therapist for support and motivation from others around me. Get around like mind individuals, mentors, and business owners.Positive mindsets. Oh, my journey doesn’t end here. I followed the first vision that was given to me by God. The scrub business is trademark and open for business. Business owner x2. Last words of wisdom. Don’t let your past control your future. My past: childhood molestation, adoption, feelings of abandonment, miscarriage. Present/Future:Healed & winning. If I can be resilient you can too. Good luck
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
To build my audience on social media. I showed up daily. No matter if I was tired, scared, and didn’t know it all. I showed up for my customers and supporters. Always know your why. Your why will be your motivation to keep going and not giving up. My why is my daughter. Everything I do is for her. My advice for anyone just starting to build social media presence is to be yourself. Do not try to Imitate someone else. People like to see the real you. Be genuine. It goes a long way. Again I say show up and be consistent.
