Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chanel Allure. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chanel, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
In 2017, I decided to leave the corporate world and pursue a more meaningful professional life. I realized every job I ever had was because someone else suggested that it was the route I should take. I vividly remember sitting in my cubicle one morning and noticing the dingy grey carpets, how dull the lighting was, and that I was extremely miserable. My professional life was all about me chasing money and nothing about chasing happiness.
At the time I was working part time in Juvenile Justice and after deep introspection I knew that was the type of profession that gave me the spark I needed. I felt rewarded in this space and was able to serve others in a capacity that I had never experienced. I set out on a new journey seeking emotional fulfillment, greater purpose and joy in what I did. My new mantra was “Do the things that excite you, rather than for a paycheck”. I quickly learned that I could have both if I set my intention high enough.
In spring 2018, I started a blog called My Very Good Year. It was my way of creating balance in my life and documenting my journey to making the next 365 days better than ever. Before I knew It I went from an executive assistant in a corporate government role to being a full-time life coach assisting young black men on their journey to adulthood. I’m forever grateful for the few people who introduced me to this career path. My blogging was adding so much joy to my life and I was releasing so much through my writing.

Chanel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Chanel Allure, I am a life coach and intentional living mentor – in New York City. Along with that I own a blog called My Very Good Year which is about acknowledging how we can improve our life in just 365 days with a little bit of intention and a solid plan. My personal mission is to connect with others and be a guide for inner transformation and self-love. I am also the owner of Elated Elements, an online wellness company founded on self-care principles. Our Goal is to help individuals collectively elevate – emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. We offer products and tools to assist you on your yearly journey to a better you.
My purpose is to impact at least one person a day. I work to encourage individuals to help them in assessing their current well-being. I act as a guide assisting people with navigating life’s challenges and prioritizing what they feel is valuable in life. I empower people to intentionally create a practice that allows them to become mindful and accountable for their actions. Being a constant reminder that our power is within how we choose to show up for ourselves each day. The use of journaling and positive affirmations are things that I uplift in this process.
What sets me apart from others is the way I use my personal experiences in collaboration with my intuition to do what I love each day. My approach is self-awareness and compassion based, which allows for greater perspective. This approach has the ability to reduce blockages as you work towards your goals while simultaneously creating a self-care routine. The goal is to gain clarity and revitalize your relationship with yourself all leading to inner peace and joy.
I am most proud of the impact I have made both on and offline in the past five years. The information I’ve shared has inspired so many people and has been a catalyst for change when it comes to self-development and spiritual practice. I am also proud that I am now living my dream life, which is rooted in self-love. My new mantra is “Dream lofty dreams and as you dream so shall you become” What I want potential followers to know is that self-work is key. The more you learn about who you are, why you do the things you do, and what you want to attain in life is a way to attract a better life experience.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I built a joyful life in this space by simply being intentional about how I was of service to others. Once I made the determination that my goal was to impact people in a large capacity I began showing up in that energy. I started sharing information on social media that would inspire and help push the collective into mindfulness. I would offer my assistance, insight, and perspective on inner transformation and self-care on my website. Most importantly I lead by example, showing how I made self-love a priority in my life from all aspects such as self-development, mental health, and spirituality.
I shared the small ways I put my happiness and fulfillment first, which allowed me to have some of the most pointed transformational experiences ever. Not only did I share all of my strides, I shared the challenges also. I wanted people to know this is a real life experience: the good, bad and the ugly. I wanted people to know that in many ways we are all dealing with similar obstacles, while manifesting the life of our dreams. I was able to connect to my community in real time with real advice and inspiration. Everything from me accomplishing a goal to fumbling in my business aspirations was relatable and relevant. It gave those around me the opportunity to share thoughts on this nonlinear life each of us is living.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Besides professional training and experiences, what has been most helpful for succeeding has been sticking with the things that feel good on a soul level. I had to tap into my body and intuition to understand this. When my body is giving me signs I am out of alignment with my soul’s purpose, I will immediately start to feel burnt out, full of anxiety, and stressed. When I start to experience these symptoms I know it’s an indicator to slow down and reflect. Recognizing my bodily responses allows me to create change and pivot my focus.
I spend a lot of time sitting and reflecting and this is a grounding energy for me. Despite everyday challenges when I focus on gratitude I am able to respond to life and navigate with ease. When my nervous system is regulated I have a deep sense of mental clarity and I can make better decisions for myself and my brands. In addition, I can be fully present and continue to help my community. My everyday tools include journaling, meditation, and visualization. At this phase of my life I am in the refining period. Taking a deeper look at how I navigate and making small adjustments that will garner success in a shorter amount of time.
