Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chandra Richardson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Chandra, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success comes from having a strategic plan and working at it consistently, with intention. I think of success as a bullseye. If I just throw darts randomly without focusing, they’ll go everywhere and I’ll never hit the target, I may even cause some damage. But if I take my time and notice any mistakes, I can learn from them and create a better plan. Then, with my eyes on my goal, I’m guaranteed to hit my target if I aim with intention and stay consistent.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I first was introduced to photography when I was a child and I would play around with disposable cameras. When I was 16, I got my first real film camera. I started studying photography in high school and later went to college for photography and graphic design. I specialize in maternity and newborn portraits, as well as motherhood sessions which includes breastfeeding and mommy and me portraits. Moms, whether they are expecting or already have a few children, don’t typically feel beautiful enough to take photos with their kids. They’re busy doing the mom life thing and don’t get dressed up often and maybe they aren’t used to how their bodies have changed. But I provide these sessions because I didn’t do them when I had my kids, for those exact reasons, and I constantly regret it. The days, weeks, and months fly by and next thing you know, your tiny baby isn’t so tiny anymore and everyone should have beautiful photos to remember these moments that so quickly fly by.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My clients find me on Facebook and Instagram as well as through my Facebook Group.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I first started in business a little over ten years ago. Then I took a break from it for several years and now that I’m back full time, I was doing what I first did ten years ago and I started realizing things are so different now! This is 2022! So I have had to switch things up and learn new ways of doing the same things. Businesses market different now and there’s a whole new culture that I have had to adjust to. Back then, social media wasn’t what it is now and I love how personalized and authentic business has become
