We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chandra Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chandra below.
Chandra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking a calculated risk reshaped my entire career—and my life—in ways I could never have fully anticipated.
For four years leading up to 2023, I had immersed myself in herbalism, crafting and selling my own herbal products at local events. It was rewarding work, but as I delved deeper into homeopathy and the principles of homeopathic medicine, I felt a powerful calling. I decided I wanted to pursue formal training to become a professional homeopathic practitioner, offering clients gentle, individualized remedies rooted in natural healing.
The challenge was financial. My herbal sales generated income, but not nearly enough to cover the costs of a multi-year homeopathy program. I explored every possible avenue for funding—scholarships, grants, loans—but viable options simply weren’t there.
Then a friend planted a seed I hadn’t considered. “You’d be great at massage therapy,” she said. At first, the idea felt completely foreign. Massage had never been on my radar as a career path. But after some reflection, I began to see its potential—not just as a standalone profession, but as a strategic first step.
I envisioned building an integrative alternative medicine practice where clients could access multiple healing modalities: herbal remedies, therapeutic massage, and eventually homeopathy. They could choose what resonated most or combine approaches into a personalized wellness plan. Massage therapy offered a practical way forward—hands-on, in-demand, and capable of generating the steady income I needed to fund my homeopathy education. Long-term, homeopathy could serve as a sustainable evolution when the physical demands of massage might naturally taper.
I secured funding to attend massage therapy school and committed to the plan: use my future massage practice to pay for homeopathy training while continuing to layer complementary skills.
The pivotal moment arrived when I applied to both programs. On the same day, I received acceptance letters from massage therapy school and homeopathy school. The simultaneous opportunities left me overwhelmed. How could I balance two rigorous programs, maintain my family life, and avoid burning out? The decision felt monumental.
Yet I moved forward, trusting the bigger vision. Three years later, the results have exceeded my wildest expectations. I now run my own private massage practice , with a growing clientele who value the personalized, holistic care I provide.
Meanwhile, I’m halfway through my four-year homeopathy training, steadily advancing through coursework, clinical supervision, and case studies.
This journey began with my herbal work at local markets, where I first connected deeply with natural wellness and community.
What started as a pragmatic pivot has become a fulfilling, multifaceted career. Embracing that initial risk—diving into massage therapy while keeping my eyes on homeopathy—gave me the confidence to pursue any path I choose. It taught me that when a risk is rooted in clear purpose, adaptability, and genuine passion for healing, it can lead to something truly extraordinary. In the evolving world of integrative health, I’m grateful every day for the courage to take that first bold step.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Chandra, owner and practitioner at Alpine Wellness, a private holistic practice in New Castle, Colorado. As a licensed massage therapist, herbalist, and born-and-raised Coloradan, I help clients relieve pain, reduce stress, and restore balance using natural, hands-on therapies.
My path started with wildcrafting—responsibly foraging Colorado’s mountains to craft herbal salves, tinctures, and teas. In 2023, I expanded into massage therapy to offer direct, therapeutic touch. Today, my private practice specializes in:
• Cupping therapy (static and dynamic)—my signature modality for releasing tension, improving circulation, and easing chronic pain
• Deep tissue, Swedish, and lymphatic massage
• Dry brushing and red-light therapy for detox, recovery, and cellular repair
Clients seek me out for stubborn muscle issues, injury recovery, stress relief, and deeper wellness support. What sets me apart is my herbalist’s perspective—I see the body holistically and often suggest simple at-home remedies to extend session benefits.
I’m currently studying classical homeopathy at the Academy of Homeopathy Education (AHE) and look forward to adding it soon.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation at Alpine Wellness has grown almost entirely through local word-of-mouth and trusted referrals in the New Castle and Roaring Fork Valley communities.
In a small town like ours, one genuine conversation—whether during a session or at a local event—or a heartfelt recommendation from a friend or family member is often the pivotal moment that brings someone new through my door.
I’m proud that my practice thrives on personal trust and authentic connections rather than heavy advertising. It means every client who walks in already knows they’ll receive attentive, individualized care.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My strongest source of new clients at Alpine Wellness comes from genuine community connections.
Being an active member of local groups like BNI (Business Network International) has been incredibly valuable. These structured networking meetings foster trusted relationships, leading to consistent word-of-mouth referrals while allowing me to contribute meaningfully—supporting other local businesses as they support mine.
In our close-knit Colorado communities around New Castle and the Roaring Fork Valley, showing up authentically and helping others grow creates a powerful, reciprocal network. It’s not just about gaining clients; it’s about building lasting partnerships rooted in mutual success.
I’m grateful that this community-focused approach keeps bringing people to my door who value personalized, natural care.
