We were lucky to catch up with Chandra Abbott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
Sharing wellness is truly my passion. Most take for granted that movement is truly a gift. Many of my clients are busy professionals , wives, mothers, caregivers, and friends and one of my most rewarding experiences was during a private session, a client said to me at the end “I never knew I could “do” yoga. She was literally in tears. She gave herself the gift of time for the first time in a long time. Time for herself. Time to go inward. Time to replenish her well. I literally watched her move into her overflow! I’m so very grateful to have the opportunity to usher people from overwhelm to overflow!!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Through Overflow Yoga + Wellness, Chandra offers a curated wellness experience that draws upon yoga and meditative practices and also provides space for those who practice with her to be filled on the way that they need- without worry, without stress, without guilt.
At Overflow Yoga + Wellnes, Chandra leads groups and individuals (both virtually and in-person) in invigorating and renewing practice cultivated to celebrate what we can do and not focus on what may not be available to us at a particular point in time.
In this practice we dig deep, allowing our bodies and our minds the time and opportunity to renew while being fueled by our inner strength. The time we spend together will allow us to connect but most importantly, to take moments just for you. You will leave feeling renewed, inspired, and refreshed.
A neuroscientist by training, Chandra Coleman Abbott (RYT-200) has always appreciated the physiological connection between the brain and the body, but the study and practice of yoga has deepened her understanding. Chandra truly believes that: We are what we think and What we think, we do. Given that our mind is truly our strongest muscle, the only thing that limits us is our capacity to dream.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would definitely choose this path again as it has shaped who I am and what I can offer my clients. My lived experiences, the twists and the turns, the highs and the lows have led me to a place of deep gratitude. I want to ensure that others feel the power that is already within.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think connection is most important. When I allow myself to be vulnerable, it creates space for my clients to do the same. It’s only in those times and spaces where we are truly able to go within and move into your overflow
