We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chance Sanderlin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chance below.
Chance, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking risks has defined my entrepreneurial journey, starting with my first business at 12, followed by my move to Atlanta as a 19-year-old full-time entrepreneur. With two growing businesses, I’ve been balancing the challenges of scaling them while managing life and school. This bold decision has been the biggest and best risk I’ve taken to change my life.

Chance, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my clothing business, Overrated Cultuur, when I was just 12, about to turn 13. It was born out of a desire to step out of my comfort zone and embrace my calling of self-expression through fashion. I wanted to create versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, appealing to both men and women of all ages and sizes. What sets Overrated Cultuur apart is the dedication and effort put into crafting unique, stylish garments that stand out.
The most exciting part of my journey has been witnessing my growth—from where I began to where I’m headed. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, especially for not giving up and staying persistent, even when times get tough.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I grew my social media audience by creating attention-grabbing content that reflects authenticity and high quality. The key was having fun while building a team of creative individuals who collaborate, share ideas, and bring diverse perspectives together to make each project successful.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social media has been instrumental in growing my customer base. By creating high-quality content that features diverse individuals and collaborating with influencers, I’ve been able to form new connections and partnerships. This approach boosts engagement, helps build a targeted audience, and drives business growth.
