We were lucky to catch up with Chad Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chad , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am married man with 4 children, and currently reside in Trinity, Florida. I am a proud owner of a few businesses I opened and currently operate. Ready to Train Mobile Gym and Ready to Train Health Supplements, Ready to Shine Mobile Detailing & Pressure Washing. And my new venture Ready to go Coffee.
It took me a lot of years and obstacles and failures to bring me where I am today. Many dead-end jobs, many setbacks personally and professionally and lot of hard work. Early in life I worked for many companies such as Walmart, UPS to also being a pharmacy technician with the purpose of just paying bills. I was in my early 20’s working 3 jobs at one time to make ends meet and felt unfulfilled. It was then I started to ask myself why I was so unhappy and what is it that I really wanted to do professionally. Like most of us all do, I was struggling to figure out what exactly my passion was. During this time I hired a personal trainer for myself at Gold’s Gym in Tampa. I trained with him for quite a while; then one day it occurred to me that this is something I could see myself doing professionally. I knew I enjoyed working out, loved sports and I enjoy helping people. It was then I decided to become a Personal Trainer and began my journey. I became went to the National Academy of Sports Medicine and became a Certified Personal Trainer.
During this time I trained my clients in the mornings and evening only, leaving 5 hours in the middle of the day free. I felt I needed to make better use of this time, so I began Ready to Shine Mobile Car Detailing. The first week of business I already had 5 vehicles scheduled. Over time I expanded my services to include pressure washing as well.
Over the years I worked for about 3 major well known gyms. I was happy with my chosen profession, met and helped a lot of great clients over the years. But deep down I still felt a greater purpose I was not yet fulfilling. Summer 2016 a neighbor reached out to me and wanted personal training for himself and his wife. However, they didn’t want to travel to the gym I was working at. They asked for me to train them in their garage. Anyone who is familiar with Florida heat, especially in the summer can imagine my hesitation when presented this opportunity. We trained for about 2 months together in their home garage. This started to get me thinking of ways to train clients at their home, but in a more comfortable and professional manner. I spent a lot of time researching and trying to figure out how I can bring a gym to my client’s front door as this isn’t anything I have heard of before. It was then I took a leap of faith, and I designed the Ready to Train Mobile Gym. I went full steam with my idea and can proudly say I recently celebrated our 5th anniversary. I have also incorporated offering my client healthy supplements to help with their personal fitness journey.
My newest venture is Ready to Go Coffee. We offer coffee sourced from all over the world, that is delivered directly to your home.
As I am approaching my 40th birthday in a few short weeks, it’s hard not to reflect back over my life. A lot of hard lessons and failures, but a lot of successes and blessing to be thankful for. I enjoy staying busy am thankful for the opportunity to be my own boss. And I am thankful for the opportunity to meet and help so many people in my community.
